Idyllic setting for country cottage gite in Eure

The cottage exceeded our expectations. Its setting is truly rural, rustic even, but it was exactly as described in the website. Its own half-acre field was cut during our week-long stay, and it made a big difference to the aspect. The property was clean and well-maintained, and we had all the basics we needed for our holiday.
The nearest village of St Georges-du-Vievre is a couple of miles away. It has a good restaurant and a few shops for all basic needs. The cottage is an excellent base for excursions further afield, such as to Honfleur, Port Andemer, Trouville/Deauville, or Rouen.
The cottage is very quiet (the only neighbours are cows in the adjacent field), and it is heartily recommended for two people wanting a superb break in one of the prettiest parts of Normandy.
Owner's Response: I'm so pleased Julian enjoyed the peace and quiet of the cottage. It really is off the beaten track. And I can only agree with him that the cottage is in one of the prettiest areas of Normandy, being undulating and forested and perfect for walks and cycling. St-Georges-du-Vievre is good for all your basic food needs - butcher, baker, green grocer, newsagent, cafe and of course the restaurant Julian mentions, the 'Hotel de France'. There is a restaurant even nearer the cottage - half a mile up the hairpin bend into the hamlet of St-Benoist-des-Ombres itself. So you can walk there directly from the cottage, eat, drink and be merry, and just roll down the hill afterwards! Tip: take a torch if you know it will be dark when you emerge from the restaurant.
