This relaxing family holiday Villa is built on the dunes at Stella Plage, the nearest village to fashionable Le Touquet, and was the family holiday home of the former French owners from Lille who built the property 50 years ago. The French character and feel of the interior remains unchanged. It is only 3 hours drive and train from the Dartford crossing via the M 20 and Chunnel. Situated 500 metres from the sandiest beaches which stretch for miles, the Villa is ideal for families (with safe garden front and back) and particularly well suited for the elderly with own ground floor bed and bathroom adjacent. You are a very close drive to Le Touquet, popular with the Parisians with its boutiques, regular markets, wide range of restaurants, hotels and casinos. Visitors frequently say how relaxing and quiet it is here. The Villa is well equipped and with efficient central heating.and most comfortable beds. A rare opportunity to stay within a French community.

In addition to the first class local golf, wind-surfing and yachting facilities, the area offers great interet for historians (Crecy, Agincourt,the Somme, Etaples, cemeteries) artists, ornithologists and geographers. For the sporting, there is an excellent tennis centre and horse riding at Touquet, boat tours of the Canache bay, sailing, fishing, land yachting and the Aqualud water park with its all year round heated pools, wave machines and water slides. The Bagatelle theme park is only a 15-20 minute drive away. Other places of interest include Berck, Etaples sur mer, Camiers, Montreuil s/ Mer and the chocolate factory at Beussent and many other pretty villages. Stella Plage itself offers several bars and restaurants, small supermarkets, a church, Sunday farmers market, gift shops, and special boulangeries, boucheries and poissonerie. Stella also has a twice weekly market (Sunday and Wednesday) in season a short walking distance from the house.

Additional information about rental rates

  • 15% Non-refundable Deposit and 10% Refundable Security Deposit is payable to confirm booking.
    85% balance of rent payable 2 weeks prior to departure and release of keys. Brits can beat the weak sterling exchange rate by paying rental in sterling. Europeans can pay in EURO if preferred.
    Rental inclusive of all electricity, light and heating and French property taxes.
    Entry is from 2.30pm on arrival day; departure is 10.00am on departure day (assuming we have bookings either side, though we may be able to offer flexibility if there is not the pressure of other guests.)
    The refund of Security deposit is within 1 month of end of stay (or earlier as soon as we can check everything).
    After October half term and during low season, we are encouraging week-end bookings from Friday evenings where there is no reservation for the following week which will take priority.
    There is a small £50 surcharge for any extra bed and each pet.
  • Why not bring the grand-parents or elderly friends: the Villa is ideal for this. They can have the bedroom on the ground floor (with a really comfortable double-bed) which is right beside the bathroom and toilet and would mean they would not have to bother with stairs and adjacent to the comfortable sitting room (pictured), making this area like a `granny annexe`- being part of and yet private from the family. Parents can have the double bed upstairs which is next to the separate room for the children with separate bathroom on that level (also as pictured).
  • Beat the relatively weak sterling/ Euro exchange rate- pay in pounds and have the major cost of your continental holiday without worry of exchange rates.
    Europeans can pay in Euros a fair rates agreed at the time based on the mid-point of either the NATWEST or a dealer's buy and sell rates.

    The property is only 50 minutes from Calais.

The young person's bedroom is very large and spans the depth of the villa. It makes a popular playroom and is equipped with toys for the young and games for all ages. Notes: The property is particularly suitable for the elderly with a downstairs bedroom with bathroom adjacent and close to the living room, allowing privacy and avoiding the need to climb the stairs. There is efficient and effective central heating maiking the property very warm in the cooler months. There ia a large secure sous-sol (basement) described by guests as an 'Aladin's cave' of interest. The activity items are kept here include the BBQ and 3 bikes, kites, beach stuff, sledge for the dune opposite, etc etc A Washing machine and dryer are available there for light washings, iron and ironing board. For heavy loads and if for any reason the villa's machines may not be working, there is a fast and reliable public 'lavange' (launderette') in the village of Stella. Living room is beside downstairs bedroom and bathroom and offers privacy suitable for granny and grandpa if needed. The fireplace is in the main dining room and is decorative only. Cot and high chair available on request.

Well behaved Pets welcomed: Pet Terms: There is a £50 surcharge per pet per week and we ask that pets be kept downstairs in the main room at nights and off the furniture at all times. The grounds are secure dog except high jumpers. Pets can have the run of the back garden and front across both properties (respecting anyone who may be next door which will be family or friends to whom we say the same). Full 'poop-scoop patrol' and pick-up required before departure and arrival of next guests who may well include young children.

To Pets- Before travel: Pets travelling from UK to check first with owners and your vet that you have the necessary vaccinations - otherwise you will not be able to travel; or rather you will be able to travel there but you will not be able to return and the French are very strict with their checks as we know from taking our own Westie. There is a 9 months' required waiting period between the time of the required vaccine programme and travel to France. Assuming all is well to travel and you enjoy your holiday with your owner, you will need to visit the local French vet (to be checked and to have your pet passport stamped) between 24 and 48 hours before travelling home; we can direct you to the local vet in CUCQ (2km away) for the necessary appointment. There will be the vet`s fee to be paid (about 40 Euros) so take your owner with you. As a rule of thumb, we find it is only worth taking the pet if you are staying a minimum of a week.

Golf: LE TOUQUET golf club is about 3 km only away with two excellent 18 hole courses and a separate 9 hole course. Relatively expensive. HARDELOT golf club is 20km away and also has two stunning courses. Relatively expensive. NAMPONT ST MARTIN golf club is 30 minutes in the car just the other side of BERCK and offers much better value as does the LEs DUNES course at FORT MAHON, a little further in th car again. All courses offer discount for juniors and students, so take evidence of age or student identity to show at the course reception.

Other Activities: Table tennis, badminton and basket ball net on site. There is a children's club and sailing club on Stella beach.

A WONDERFUL RELAXING WEEK IN STELLA

We have recently returned from a wonderful week at this property. There wer two adults, one teenager and two grandparents and the house worked wonderfully well for our party. The grandparents had the downstairs double room with toilet and bathroom, and the adults and teenager had the two bedrooms (teenagers bedroom could have slept four kids and a baby) and bathroom upstairs. The house was equipped with everything you need plus much more. The garage under the house contained bikes, kites, table tennis, footballs and much more including a giant wooden 'connect 4' which kept parents/grandparents and son entertained for hours!

The house is located on a quiet road with incredibly easy access to the shops and restaurants of the town and also the beach front. Did not need to use the car very often, only when visiting other parts of the area, as everything you need is on your doorstep.

The owners were extremely helpful all the way through the booking process. It is the first time we have booked independently and Hugh and Cathy removed any worries we had about this process.

We would highly recommend this house to anyone and thank Hugh and Cathy for helping to make our holiday a enjoyable and stress-free experience.

What a lovely week!

This holiday villa was a superb choice. The owners were very helpful and informative during the booking process and it was obvious from the moment we arrived that lots of thought had gone into setting out and equipping the house to make things easy and enjoyable for holidaying families, starting off with a most welcome gift of wine and pasta to get us started. Don't make the mistake of packing loads of beach games, deckchairs etc. like we did. There is more than enough of everything, mostly located in the wonderful Aladdin's Cave of a garage underneath the house. You name it: table-tennis, badminton, kites, bikes, toboggans, fishing rods, basketball - more than enough activity stuff! Nice little town and the villa is conveniently located for beach, shops, bars, restaurants etc. Also the journey from the tunnel is only 50 minutes or so which means we were there before we really got going. We will return!

The house is an easy drive from Calais (55 mins), the town has all the shops you need in walking distance & the beach is also walking distance. The house was clean & had everything you need for a week or so. We were 4 adults but you could fit 3 or 4 kids in as well. Nice bottle of wine & some pasta from the owners on arrival, very pleasant people. We had a good break.

Summer week at Stella Plage

We had 5 adults in this home for one week. We loved the location - being able to walk to the village for shopping or walk to the beach for fun in the sun. We also used the house as a base to visit Belgium one day and the D-Day beaches another. While the drives were several hours, we loved having the house to come home to.

The house was clean, spacious, and very well equipped for cooking and hanging out - patio chairs, puzzles, games, books. There are also ample supplies of beach toys. It was our first time surfing sand dunes, and it was fun! We also appreciated the ability to do laundry when we arrived after spending a week in Paris.

The owners provided excellent communication throughout the rental process and a lovely welcome basket of goodies when we arrived, along with brochures of things to do in the local area. We visited a Bee Museum and several local gardens that weren't on our original itinerary.

This was a lovely house, very comfortable and spacious and unlike most French houses, had excellent plumbing and was light and airy. It also had a good sized garden which young children could play in. The owners have thoughtfully provided a good range of toys such as a tobaggon to sledge down the sand dunes (highly recommended), bikes, table tennis table, inflatable pool etc. The house is walking distance to the beach and biking distance to the small, but well equipped and pretty town of Stella Plage. Le Touquet is 10 mins drive away, so plenty of good eateries on tap and also shops and other entertainment. We will return!
