Romantic hideaway located at gateway to Connemara

Railway Cottage is the perfect place to locate for a wonderful break in Connemara, with its peaceful ambiance and exceptional comfort. Polished wooden floors, antique pine furniture and pure Irish linen are used throughout. Railway Cottage is completely self-contained with its own kitchen, sitting room, double bedroom and en-suite bathroom. The kitchen contains all the comforts of home: cooker & hob, dishwasher and washer & dryer. For longer stays, enjoy cooking for yourself- though Carmel always stocks the basics (coffee/ tea, milk, farm-fresh eggs, etc.) along with some of her home-baked breads from the Lodge! TV & DVD player are also installed in the cottage sitting room for those rainy days. The private patio is to the side with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. There are bar-be-que facilities and patio table and chairs for a comfortable evening cook-out.

Boat trips on Lough Corrib - featuring tours of ancient monastic remains on Inchagoill Island and over to Cong to view Ashford Castle. World class fishing on Lough Corribb with its wild brown trout and salmon catches.

Stunning walks around Lough Corrib and Connemara. The famous western way walk begins i Oughterard. Ideal base from which to explore the Burren, only a 60 minute drive and the Aran Islands, ferries departing only a 20 minute drive from Oughterard. There are many top class restaurants, pubs and shops in Oughterard.
