TAVIRA - Venice of the Algarve:
Tavira, located 8 km to the East, is a picturesque town nicknamed 'Venice of the Algarve', which dates back to 2000 BC an illustration of medieval, renaissance and baroque art, crammed with historic churches, a castle, an ancient Roman bridge, a tuna fish museum (the area is renowned for its fishing history/particularly for tuna), frequent art exhibitions are also on display. Tavira Island and neighbouring beaches have golden sand and are much less frequented, perfect to practice water sports such as scuba diving, surf, kite surf or windsurf. Ideal to relax on during your vacation in Portugal.
OLHAO - Fishing Port of the Eastern Algarve:
Olhao, located 8 km to the West, is the main fishing port in the eastern Algarve. The old town is a warren of narrow twisting streets and cubist houses still remaining from the Arab influence.The town is famous for it's Saturday market, where local farmers come from the countryside to sell their fresh home grown products. Here you can find everything for your evening BBQ, the fresh fish is inexpensive and excellent.
FUZETA - Fishing Village:
Fuzeta, located 2 km to the South, is a very charming and traditional Portuguese fishing village, with its accessible beach in the lagoon, or you can take a 5 minute ferry boat trip over to the island with kilometers of long sandy beaches.
The lagoon between the island and main land is warm and calm and therefore offering activities of wind surfing, sailing and diving. Also very suitable for children.
Fuzeta provides small but excellent fish restaurants as well as international cuisine. Enjoy the evening in the main square, sitting under big palm trees, sipping your 'Vinho Verde' and listening to the chirping of the cheeky sparrows.
Golf:
A year round golfing paradise and one of Europe's top golfing destinations.The pleasant climate, with over three hundred days of sunshine, ensures that golf can be comfortably played all year round.
1km from the villa is Colina Verde - The 9 hole Executive par 3 golf course is suitable for players of all levels. Straightforward enough to be enjoyable for beginners, but also testing enough for the experienced player, including tennis courts and a fully equipped gymnasium and health spa, there is plenty to interest those wishing to add some enjoyable physical activity to their holiday.
Quinta da Ria/Quinta da Cima golf courses are located 20 km away towards the Spanish boarder.Quinta da Ria is a spectacular 18 hole golf course located within the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve. The course runs down to the Ria Formosa with stunning views of the sea and mountains
The famous courses at Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo are easily reached in 30 minutes via the A22 motorway. Or cross over to Spain and play the new Esuri course about 20 minutes away via the A22 motorway.
