Broadband wireless - Wifi Internet is installed and 100% Free - throughout the accommodation. Cable TV has been installed offering 200+ channels. A Laptop PC is available if require also Cell phone. for use with a UK phone SIM. ( please request these items in advance thanks ) Both Bed rooms have double beds, Wardrobe bedside cabinet - and there is also the use of an auto inflating/deflating Queen sized air bed with easily fits into the large lounge - 30 feet x 18 feet. Notes: The apartment has a new kitchen with large fridge freezer, microwave, ceramic hob oven/cooker. Bathroom is modern white suite. WiFi internet works well throughout the apartment. Please note the apartment does not have a maid/cleaning service; cleaning supplies are provided and apartment should be returned as presented/received. PARKING: please note there are many car parking options. the best being completely free parking at anytime beside Murryfiled Rugby Ground - approx 5 min walk. it is very easy to find and get to. I cannot at all understand the previous review by an owner that had such problems. I can provide a map to this location but anyone that can use the internet can see exactly where this is. I understand the previous tenant 'Le tour Hong Kong' ignored ALL the clearly marked warnings & rules and ended up with tickets so is upset.

Location, Location, Location: The apartment is located in one of the best parts of Edinburgh - The Westend. It is only a very short walk to Princess Street 5 (min walk ), Train Station (1min walk), Edinburgh Castle (5 Mins ) 100s of fine restaurants ( 2 mins walk ), The Royal Mile (5 mins walk ), National Art Gallery's of Scotland ( 2mins walk ). Haymarket transport interchange ( 1min ) - including the new Edinburgh express Airport bus. Murryfield Rugby Stadium ( 2mins ). the postcode is EH12 5LG this can be used to obtain exact location from many websites. No car is required as everything is within short walk. Although there is parking & a car hire shop within few mins walk.

The Apartment: The apartment has many fine period features including Edinburgh presses, Grand cornice, large bay window over looking cobbled street. The large fire place works and is a great feature. The apartment is warm despite have such large proportions. The bathroom and kitchen have recently been replaced with modern fittings. Free - Wireless / WiFi broadband Internet is available throughout the apartment ( 16 Mbps ) Everything is provided you would expect to find in a comfortable luxury apartment with a fully operational kitchen. Cable TV has been installed. and 100s of channels are provided.

Another great stay

Having stayed for a longer period at one of the owners other properties during a corporate event, and having left my hotel booking to the last minute, I was delighted when he was able to make the flat in Edinburgh available to me which got me out of what could have been a difficult situation with my wife as we were celebrating our aniversary!

I was great to be so close to the city centre that we could walk to the main sights of this fantastic old city, many of which the owner had recommended to us, along with an excellent restaurant he managed to get us reservations at - as always he did everything possible to make sure we were looked after and was always on the other end of the phone when I wanted to find out where to go next!

The flat is part of a traditional townhouse with many of the period features loved by my wife and has a marvelous grand fireplace which formed the perfect romantic backdrop when the snow hit!

I would recommend this property to anyone looking to explore the sights of Edinburgh or Glasgow (we jumped on the train only 1 minute from the flat and headed through there one day for the shopping) and have already booked to return in March when I am back in the city on business.

If you ever decide to sell up, please let me know!

Fantastic Location, great stay

Stayed here for a business trip in Dec 09 for a couple of weeks. Was very satisfied with the location and there was parking nearby (Murrayfield) which was a short walk away and free. Although parking free outside the flat at night and on a Sunday.
Train station was round the corner and I used this to visit friends in Glasgow. Very handy.
Definitely going to stay here again when I have another business trip as the flat had free WiFi with a reliable connection which was great as I work in IT and had to work at night.
The flat is great and has a huge lounge with a period fireplace. I had a group of friends come and join me whilst I was there who made use of the airbed which was better than expected.
The landlord supplied me with a house phone to use as well which was great as it allowed me free calls within the UK. A real bonus.
Only minor issue which was that the kettle broke. However the landlord was very helpful and refunded me for a new kettle which I purchased.

Had a great stay and will be coming back.

Very disappointed

We had a number of options to choose in Edinburgh for our Christmas break in Dec 09 and chose this flat because it looked pretty impressive from the web site photographs.

However the flat is very very tired and in need of substantial redecoration. The woodwork badly needs re-painting and the curtains in each room, living room particularly, need urgent attention. There are no curtains at all in the bathroom and with the windows only half frosted this might not suit those of a more modest disposition. It certainly did not suit us.

It also left a lot to be desired from a cleanliness point of view. There were crumbs and spills all over the kitchen work tops and down the cupboards and we had to clean any cutlery, dishes, pots and pans that we wanted to use. The cooker was filthy and the grill and grill pans smelled really bad and were unusable. The kitchen bin was also full on arrival.

It also looked as though the bedroom carpets hadn't been hovered in an age; there was a plethora of long black hairs on the floor under the main bed.

A lot of the paintwork is grimy and there are what appear to be long term build ups of dirt in corner details and on radiators.

Mike, the landlord, was very attentive and we can't fault him for his customer facing skills. We had a bit of a haggle at the end over the cost of the gas heating but he was very reasonable. He did offer that the flat had been his during his days as a student so perhaps that explains the condition of the place.

There are two TVs with the one in the main bedroom linked to a cable network and the one in the living room limited to channels 1 through to 5. Not a very satisfactory situation if you want to watch some cable or other digital channels. Wouldn't take much to either move the cable set into the living room or at least invest in a cheap set to digi box. There is a cd / radio / cassette player in the living room and although it works it has seen better days.

Parking could be a nightmare but I suppose this is to be expected in Edinburgh. The flat is in a resident’s only parking zone but it surely should be possible to buy a permit for the use of anyone renting the flat. We were lucky in so far as the bad weather and the Christmas shut downs meant that we didn't see a traffic warden until our last day so we were able to leave the car directly outside the flat all of the time. That won't be possible generally and the nearest free parking is a ten minute walk away in Murrayfield.
Owner's Response: Murryfield parking is no more than 5min walk - easily checked. The livingroom TV has an all-in-1 DVD, Digital TV Box & CD/Stereo system; (search “LG RHT497H”). The bathroom window looks over a private garden and the window conforms to Edinburgh council building standards, privacy glass is installed as required. As for the cleaning issue; why on earth would I leave a holiday home as described; it makes no sense ? The cooker is a new, modern & specifically bought as its easy to keep clean. – ( Search “Electrolux ekc6059” ) Please ask for additional photos etc as can be provided to clarrify the condition of the appartment. The curtains do not need ANY attention as are clean and do the job curtains are suppose to. The appartment has a modern high quality hoover, and is periodically cleaned by a professional wet clean carpet co.
Please let me know if you have ANY questions as Im confident I can provide all info to negate the issues raised here. All information on TVs, DVDs, Wifi etc is availible at appartment & most is contained in document emailed before booking.

We had a great time in Edinburgh...and the apartment made everything easy, because it was located near (walking distance) of the main points of interest....very spacious..everything you need at a decent price.....would recommend it anytime

Fine if you're not driving

The apartment is located quite nicely in the Westend of Edinburgh.
Facilities are OK but nothing special. Best feature is the lounge - nice and spacious with period features, though its starting to look a little old and tired and the windows could certainly do with a clean it does have its charm. Kitchen was Ok, but lacked a tea pot - an essential when travelling with tea drinking parents.

Without a doubt this apartment is a nightmare for people with a car. I visited in August towards the end of the Festival and (partly due to the renovations taking place over at Haymarket Station) there is nowhere to park without paying over the odds for meter parking or all day in outdoor sites a fair walk away. Beware of the parking restrictions in and around the apartment as there are more traffic wardens in the west end then I've ever experienced anywhere!
I've visited Edinburgh fairly regularly and have rented over in the eastern side at apartments with carparks below or with outside street parking with parking permits issued to renters. This property would benefit from a similar arrangement. If parking permits were arranged for renters it would make the apartment seem that much more convenient and eliminate the need for costly daily parking fees.

To sum up - nice location - terrible parking arrangements which ultimately ruined the holiday.

Take the train or stay elsewhere if you plan to drive!
