The holiday house is a restored country house, parts of which date back to the 14th and 16th centuries. It is now fully restored keeping as many of the old and original features as are compatible with modern living. This holiday home offers plenty of space for groups or families and is the perfect location for a relaxing holiday where you can escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. There are large gardens to the front and back of the property as well as tennis court and fully enclosed swimming pool. The surrounding area is young forest with walkways and a lake for fishing or spotting wildlife such as deer, boar, storks and so much more. There is a host of activities to do in the area ranging from horse riding, golf, canoeing or cycling along the River Mayenne (85km) to name but a few.

St Suzanne - beautiful medievel town on top of the hill with local crafts and narrow streets. Chateau Gontier - Crypt dating from 11th Century, Chapel 12th C, museum, cattle market (one of the largest in Europe) Laval - old historic town with Chateau, museum, old narrow streets. Craon - historic chateau, fortified town, The Rose Garden, Angora farm, open farms, cider farms, kiwi farm, wine & beer specialists, bric a brac, Zoos: La Fleche, Chateau Gontier has a refuge for various animals which were donated, great childrens playground on site.

The south wing consists of: double and triple sharing bathroom (the triple room leads to a further:) 2 doubles sharing bathroom. Bed linen and towels are supplied, however pool towels are not. Access to the south wing is from the courtyard, approx 3 meters from the door of the back kitchen, 8 meters from the dining room door.

Notes: The villa is particular suitable for families with children of all ages. Apart from the swimming pool and tennis court there is also a swing and trapeeze. The games room has table tennis, small pool table, table football, piano, books and board games. There is 190 acres of young forest with a pathways and a lake. The pathways are ideal for walking or even cross country cycling. The young forest has brought wildlife to the are and includes deer, boar, pheasants, hawks, hares, rabbits, as well as storks. These can be spotted in particular early in the morning and at dusk. Pool towels are not supplied.

Wonderfully impressive holiday home

Recently returned from 12 days at La Gilariare. Simply cannot explain how wonderful the house itself is. It's as original as it can be, but fabulously furnished with amazing views. Having stayed in some rather grand buildings before, I was surprised at how rich the surroundings were. The tennis court is full size and sheltered by a small copse, the pool is safe for children with the pool itself being the perfect size and again, sheltered as situated within an orchard. There are numerous places set up in the vast grounds to dine, the only problem is choosing which garden to eat in!! Overall, I felt particularly privileged to have stated there and was very sad to leave. We had one bad days weather, but that was not a problem as the games room was used to full effect and the house lends itself to quiet reading and relaxation. I'd recommend it all year round if you wanted a relaxing place to hide away with family and friends.
