Hello and welcome to our home. This is a villa with a sub-tropical fruit garden. From the south facing outside terrace under the grape-vines and jasmine you enter into the sitting room painted in vibrant primary colours with two leather sofas and typical rustic furniture and lots of cushions. It’s a cosy place to sit, read and generally relax . Or you might prefer to watch a selection of English and foreign DVDs from a comfortable corner sofa in the second sitting room – again with lots of cushions. The room is typically decorated with local Portuguese tiles and its main feature is the original working bread oven, now also an open fire with a safety fire guard. A pouffe cleverly unfolds into an extra bed if needed..

The interior

The original narrow interior staircase leads up from the sitting room into the study with a view over the garden and hills. A selection of French and English novels and general interest books and board games are here offering you a quiet place to read. A Futon sofa also opens as a pull-out double bed as supplementary sleeping. A ladder/staircase leads up into the attic which we keep locked and private.

The upstairs

The pretty hallway with original parquet floor and original painted walls in pastel colours leads the length of the house opening onto a terrace either end. The main bathroom with parquet floor and central bath with shower attachment toilet and bidet is half tiled with local tiles. The two double bedrooms decorated in pastel shades each have two windows – one each opening onto the east-facing terrace. One bedroom has a 140/190cms double bed and hanging space for clothes. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans. The second bedroom is “pink” with the second window looking out over the garden and hills. A 160/200cms double bed in this room comes with hanging space for clothes, colourful bed linen and summer and winter duvets for all bedrooms are provided. Towels (but not beach towels) extra pillows and bed linen are also provided for guests.

The upstairs terraces

The upstairs terraces are reached via the house or an exterior staircase. Find locally commissioned sun-loungers, table and chairs so you can enjoy breakfast in the morning sun or just a relaxing read, or spend your time gazing out to sea. Part shaded by the vines, part exposed to direct sun, you can idle the hours away here in comfort. Outside the west-facing terrace also has an exterior staircase leading from the upstairs hallway down to the main terrace. An original Portuguese seating bench, a dining table and chairs offer “al fresco” eating under the grape-vines. The original outside cookhouse has been converted into a BBQ room with the original outside stone sinks.
