Town House on the Vezere River

We vacationed here for a week with another couple. If anything, the town house was nicer than expected. The kitchen was well appointed with some equipment I don't even own as an avid cook. It was newly remodeled and spotless as well, and we enjoyed being able to close the door while cooking to provide quiet for the adjoining dinning and living room.
Our hosts waited for our arrival, and had stocked the kitchen with some necessities. They were very welcoming and provided complete information as they toured us through the house. Midweek, our host returned to town to check on us, surprising us by recognizing us on a road in Le Begue as we walked!
This property is very quiet, and both bedrooms on the river side of the house have lovely views of the river and bridge. I regret not spending more time on the large terrrace. We always seemed to stay out on our day trips too long, returning just as the sun slipped over the horizon with a final reflection and glow on the river's surface.
I think a third couple, provided they were well mannered and with similar tastes and schedules could have been accomodated here. However, that would mean one couple would be on the street side of the home without the captivating river view.
Many day trips may be enjoyed from this location. We especially enjoyed arriving in our destinations on local market days. Le Bugue is also on the market circuit, and you walk scarcely two blocks to reach it. Families with children will enjoy the aquarium and the life sized village replete with real live stock. The town house, however, would not be the most convenient for travelers with very young children because of the narrow stairs and the high road just outside the door. Children over the age of 7 or 8 might do very well here.
We had mainly nice lunches in the area and returned for a meal in both Tremolet and St Leon. The bakery just half a block from the house has wonderful bread and pastry served by amiable staff. We'd return for the river view and the bakery any day!
Owner's Response: We are pleased that all our clients this year have enjoyed staying in our house at Le Bugue. Surprisingly we had a family with young children (3yrs old and 6 months old) who found it ideal. The large terrace (11metres x 5.5metres) allowed the children to play outside in complete safety and also watch the ducks and canoes on the river.
