This charming traditional house is situated within the old village of Laroque Des Alberes, near the 12th Century tower, the church of St. Felix and the Placa de Republic. One of the original houses built around the old tower, the property is situated in an elevated position and commands stunning views of the Alberes mountains. The house is located in a quiet pleasant street within walking distance of the village centre. There is a community spirit in the village with a variety of shops and restaurants to choose from. The garden/patio is south facing with beautiful views of the Alberes Mountains. A ten minute walk from the house takes you into a walkers paradise of mountain trails leading to mountain pools and mineral waters. Laroque is a great location; close to the airports of Perpignan and Gerona, with the beaches of Collioure and Argeles just a short drive away. The Tourist office is a short walk from the house and provides interesting information about this beautiful region.

Laroque des Alberes is a 15-20 minute drive to the Mediterranean beaches of Argeles Sur Mer, St. Cyprien and Canet en Rouisillion with plenty of beach activities and Aqua parks. The beautiful fishing village of Collioure with narrow winding streets, abounds with art galleries, boutiques, waterside cafes and restaurants. A 45 minute drive will take you to the mountain ski resorts and the natural springs of St. Thomas Les Bainsand, other local villages such as Amelie Les Bains, Arles sur Tech, Le Boulou and Maurillas, all within a short drive of one another. The Spanish borderis 30 minutes drive, takes you onto the Costa Brava, Figures and Roses with Barcelona 1 hour 30 minutes away. Perpignan airport (Ryanair, Flybe, BMI) is about 40 minutes, Girona (Ryanair) about 1 hr, Carcassone and Barcelona 2 hrs by motorway.

  • The house comfortable sleeps 5 people. The ground floor has one double bedrooms and one single room with toilet/shower room. The First double bedroom (Queen size) is spacious and contains a built-in wardrobe, bed-side lockers and double glass doors/shutters,opening out to street level. Very bright and airy, this room is nice and cool during the summer months.The Second single bedroom has a built-in wardrobe and bedside locker. A toilet/shower room lies between these two bedrooms and a small room (under the stairs) contains washer/dryer machine and floor hoover. Located above the sitting room is a lovely Mezzanine with two single bed and a wardrobe.

A Quiet Break ...

I have to say that we loved this little house the moment we walked into it. It has a lovely traditional French feel to it and the decor compliments it.

Myself and my wife stayed here for a week and we couldn't have asked for more. We wanted somewhere quiet & traditional but we also wanted somewhere that would be within striking distance of places to see, and also the beach. This property fitted the bill completely.

It was very comfortable, and always nicely cool for the hot week we were there with plenty of home comforts. Two great showers too by the way.

The house is situated almost at the top of the village which makes for beautiful views of the surrounding areas and the allotments being tended to by the locals below the house made for relaxing viewing. The garden was lovely just to sit out in and soak up the sunshine and listen to the birds.

The village itself is just beautiful and relaxing to walk around with lots nooks and crannys and lovely places to eat and sample some of the local wines. Also, the surrounding hills and mountains are filled with walkways for hill walking enthusiasts. After walking for about 15-20 minutes from the house we found ourselves overlooking some beautiful rock pools of fresh water from the mountains.

Perpignan was only a 20 minute drive away and the beautiful village of Collioure (well worth a visit by the way!) is only 15 minutes drive away also. So there really was plenty to keep us occupied for the time we were there.

We enjoyed the peace and tranquility so much that we will definately be going back.
