Wine & Prosciutto Tastings, Antique Markets:
BRANIK VILLAGE IS VERY CENTRAL TO MOST SLOVENIAN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS AS CAVES, LIPIZANER HORSES, JULIAN ALPS, SLOVENIAN COAST, LJUBLJANA, VENICE...
There are plenty of wineries and wine farms in the area, producing Slovenian's most fine wines.
Only in Branik village the farmers grow over 15 different Wine grape varieties.
There are as well local osmica feats and other village feasts all spring, summer and autumn. There is almost always one somewhere. You can taste very good food there.
But Branik village also has 3 very good restaurants where you can taste local cuisine and wines.
In Štanjel village antique vendors come almost every Saturday and Sunday, if the weather is permitting.
Branik has a village feat end of August, with antique market, wine tastings, dancing outdoors and sausage stands in the evening.
Famous Slovenian Caves:
most of the nicest ones are very close to Villa Flora,
Postojna Cave, 40 km,
Skocaja Caves, 40 km,
Vilenica Cave, 20 km.
Štanjel village:
One of the most famous and most visited villages of Slovenia is only 6 km away. Famous for the beauty of the stone houses, lemon shaped church tower and the Castle of Štanjel, with the famous Spacjal Art Collection.
A taste of Teran wine and prosciutto is a must.
Ski:
Kanin in about an hour drive, is high mountain skiing resort, where you can ski even in May.
By the way in May Slovenians ski at Kanin in the morning and swim in the sea in the afternoon.
Sella Nevea is the Itallian side of Kanin mountain. You can go up one way or the other. Go up Italian side, have lunch in Slovenia, ski back to Italy....
