Lilac Cottage was built 200 years ago as a quarrymans cottage. It is grade 2 listed. Although refurbished, it retains its charm and many of its original features. 7 minutes walk from the town and seafront and adjacent to The Townsend Nature Reserve and Dawnes, giving access to the coastal path. It is in a quiet location within the old town, at the end of an unmade road. Parking is usually available outside the cottage. It is the owners seaside home and furnished and equipped to a high standard. It is very child friendly with lots of toys, baby equipment and garden play shed. Cosy sitting room with wood burning stove, TV, DVD, video and hi-fi. Large kitchen with dining table. Garden room with wicker furniture. Gas central heating. Safe walled garden with decking and views over town. Dogs very welcome (downstairs only). Non-smoking only. Brochure available. Excellent customer feedback.

Swanage lies between Weymouth and Bourmouth on the Ise of Purbeck. It is a Victorian town which has an award-winning beach and restored pier. The coastline is varied and beautiful with many interesting towns and villages close by. The town hosts various festivals throughout the year. It is a designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Englands first World Heritage Site because of it's outstanding geology. National Trust areas include Brownsea Island and Corfe Castle as well as the 5 mile stretch of sand at Studland Bay.

Additional information about rental rates

  • A damage waiver bond of £100 is payable and a completed booking form is required..
    Check availability with the owner. Flexible changeover days and periods are possible, subject to availability as are short breaks although these cannot usually be accomodated during the summer season.
    £100 deposit is payable to secure a bookung, with the balance being payable 8 weeks before the start of the holiday. Rent is non refundable in the event of the renter(s) having to cancel the holiday.
    Pets are very welcome (maximum 2 dogs) and are charged at £10 per pet per week.

The perfect cottage to stay in for your holiday, very clean and homely with a lovely back garden. Fully equiped for all your needs and just a short walk into the town and beach. Would highly recommend Lilac Cottage, we will certainly be going back next year....and the best bit, your dog is made welcome too!

The property was exactly as described. Clean pleasant family friendly cottage, closely located to the town and beach.

For those who have never been to Swanage it is perfect for a british family holiday. Good atmosphere, beach excellent with plenty going on for kids. Most days we just walked down to the beach but there is also loads to do in the area, if the weather isnt as kind as it was to us.

Dealings with the owner were prompt and professional. We would certainly recommend this to friends.

This is so much more than just a holiday let as being the owner's seaside holiday home it comes equipped with just about everything you are likely to need. Only 5 minutes from town, downhill, perhaps a bit longer coming back uphill and only a few minutes walk to get out of the houses and into the countryside you can forget all about the car. And if you do not want to go anywhere just enjoy a bottle of wine in the sunny secluded garden.

A great Easter Break

Lilac cottage were a perfect retreat for an Easter break. The cottage is so homely, clean and had all the mod cons needed and more. The garden had a BBQ and we enjoyed relaxing on the seats on the decking sorrounded by pretty bushes.

The cottage is so close to Swanage and perfect for the beach and lovely walks with our dog and very close to other local attractions. I would definately recommend lilac cottage and i thought that the owners had gone out of their way to make it home from home, allowing you to use CD's and games and leaving loads of information about the local attractions..

Charming home from home.

A very well equipped,spotlessly clean and comfortably furnished cottage in a peaceful spot with a secluded paved garden. It was warm and welcoming when we visited at the beginning of March. Parking outside, though on a steep hill, made unpacking the car very easy, and must be a bonus in 'peak season'. Great area for families, with award winning beaches nearby, or couples who want to tour the Purbeck countryside. Wonderful coastal walking all around. Close to Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove and easy walking distance of Swanage. Highly recommended!
