A luxurious oasis

Rusho Manchester and London
Review Submitted: November 22, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
Although, at first, I was slightly worried how remote the location of the apartment was, my concerns weree quickly dispelled. It is sited within a few minutes walk of a lovely rural village - typical of the region. I hired a car to get to and from Estoril and/or Cascais but the journey took no more than 10 minutes. 10 minutes more takes you to the beaches at Guincho which are terriffic!
The apartment is wonderful. Light, airy, masses of space - and a truly relaxing place for a holiday. The agents that look after the apartment are attentive, friendly and helpful.
Thoroughly recommended and I'll be back!
Owner's Response: We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at our beautiful apartment in Villaggio Manique and hope we can welcome you back soon.

The Service within the Complex will offer a lot of new Features from Summer 2009, which will make the stay even more pleasant.

Kindest regards Gerard & Stefanie

Possibly four and a half out of five

Review Submitted: October 2, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We stayed at this apartment for four nights in September 2009. We had read some great reviews and sort of knew what to expect, and we were not disappointed. The management company agent lives in the complex and came and showed us round the property within five minutes of us getting there.

There was no lengthy check in procedure and we were shown everything in the apartment quite quickly.

Everything is as described and we were very pleased with the welcome basket, which included bread, milk, butter, juice, wine, coffee, sugar, etc.

The bedrooms were very comfortable, and the air conditioning worked very well. It was a very quite and pleasant location.

There were a couple of minor points to note. Despite the owner noting that a microwave oven had now been added, this is not the case. Also, if you have a toddler, who doesn't understand the dangers of height, you would have to keep the kitchen window closed, as there is a slight risk that they might crawl out!

Apart from that, the agent's representative didn't know the key to the wireless internet and suggested we use the cable. However, when I looked on the bottom of the router, the key was written on there. Maybe the representative needs to know where the key is.

Give us a microwave in the apartment and the title of this review would be five out of five!

Stylish apartment

ABZ - Family Aberdeen
Review Submitted: July 26, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We stayed in the apartment from 14th - 24th of July 2009, the apartment itself is virtually faultless with a high standard of finish and is very clean. The facilities inside the complex are again of a high standard and as a family we were often the only ones at the pool or tennis areas.

The pool is great and very clean only downside would be that there are no sun loungers or chairs around the pool area which meant either you had sun bathe one the deck or grass areas, this could be greatly improved if there had been either access to loungers or possibly supplying a few fold down loungers which could be stored in the apartment itself.

We did not have access to the underground car parking during our stay which would have made transferring luggage to and from the car easier but this is only an observation as there is plentiful car parking within the complex.

The area around the location of the complex looks to be going through many major upgrades and has good access to local shops, hypermarkets and other small villages around the area. In short we had a great time in an apartment that was extremely good value.

The owner at all times was extremely helpful and kept in constant contact to ensure that we were all happy, would recommend a visit!

Perfect Mix of Authentic and Contemporary

BerlinCouple Berlin, Germany
Review Submitted: July 25, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
Everybody that is enjoying the Estoril Area in Portugal, will love this excellent hide out. We have to say that we really enjoyed our stay in Villaggio Manique and love to come back next year.

The Old Town of Sintra and Cascais are lovely - most of the restaurants we went to were excellent and there is a magically atmopshere about the place.

We can recommend to discover the different Beaches of the Area whith superb fish restaurants and Bars and the Belem Area in Lisbon, especially the docklands for a nice eve out or the fairytale like Old Town of Sintra for Culture and World Heritage.

We loved the Apartment - spacious and light flooded rooms, thoughtfull decorated in neutral colors with every modern equipment needed (LCD Telly, Wireless etc.)

We were provided with tennis rakets and balls, football and boogy boards for the kids without any extra charges. You can actually oversee the tennis court and pool area whilst enjoying your breaky on the main balcony of the apartment.

Great complex overall for couples, families, and for activity or golf holidays.

No better than average

Review Submitted: June 16, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We stayed at the apartment for a weekend in June '09 and really found it to be no better than average.

On the plus side, it is a modern apartment within a modern complex. The rooms are quite spacious and it's certainly clean and tidy.

However, on the minus side:

The complex really is in the middle of nowhere. A car and satnav are completely essential and it is a good 20 minute drive to the coast at Cascais. What we did notice was that all through the day and night, all we could hear was the incessant barking of dogs!

Renters should be aware that, despite the claim on the property description, there is no wireless internet access. Your laptop has to be hard wired to the router in the lounge with an ethernet cable running between the obvious 'desk point' which is the dining table and the router. Not very practical with a wire stretching across the room. Disappointingly, despite being advised of this during our stay by text message, the owner failed to respond with any suggested workaround.

In the bedrooms, the beds are moreorless at floor level (very low down). This could be a problem for anybody who has difficulty getting up and down and I must say that the mattress was certainly not of a good quality and not conducive to a good night's sleep.

In the kitchen, quite strangely, there is no microwave. The front door of the apartment is very difficult to open. In fact, late on our first night on returning to the apartment, we tried several times to open the door, managing to do so eventually but not after fearing that we would be locked out for the night.

There is a tennis court and swimming pool on the complex but the clubhouse is not open so there is no hospitality.

We were checked in by the owner's agent who was quite delightful but when she realised on check-in that certain items which should have been provided had not been, she promised to get back to us the following morning. We never saw or heard from her again! Similarly, since we returned to the UK (now more than a week ago), we have had no follow-up from the owner even asking how we found the place. Makes you think!

All in all, if you're looking for a pretty basic bolthole and are happy with the available but limited facilities in a remote location then perhaps this could be for you. We actually left the apartment early and spent our final night in a lovely hotel, the Farol Design Hotel, overlooking the Atlantic in Cascais!

Oh-don’t forget to bring your own toilet paper!
Owner's Response: We are very sorry to hear that your stay at our apartment wasn't as comfortable as you expected. We do welcome any constructive criticism that improves our services for the future.

However, at the same time we would like to address some of the issues and allegations made by you.

You were provided not only with two rolls of toilet paper (if you use them within two days than you will have to get some more as this is a self catering apartment) but as well with a Welcome Basket which includes Beer, Wine, Water, Coffee, Bread, Cakes, Sugar, Milk etc.

We do understand that it can be difficult to drive in a different country, to a new destination for the first time. That's why we provide a Welcome Pack with a detailed route description for all our Guests ending with: 'take the junction Bicesse/Manique off the Motorway and thereafter follow the Street Signs with "Villaggio Manique" which will lead you right to the gates of the Condominium.'

The description of our rental property on this site and within our Brochure is 100% accurate. The driving times are taken from a route planner and can be confirmed by our own experience (5 min to Estoril Beach, Casino, Shopping Centre, Formula 1 Circuit; 10 min to Cascais or Estoril) and our Apartment is fitted with a wireless Router/unlimited Broadband.

If you feel uncomfortable with computers than we would like to advise you to check how a wireless Internet connection can be established before you go on holidays. As long as there are no further conflicts -Notebook settings like firewall etc.- all there has to be done is to enter a password to secure the exclusive and full broadband experience to our guests. We did advise you about the web key and furthermore contacted our management company to help you. Our Management Company went out to buy a cable to ensure a hardwired connection as it proved difficult for you to connect.

All doors in the complex are the same security standard doors. The key has to be turned twice that´s all.I am not able to fully comprehend how an apartment fitted with marbel ensuite bathrooms, marbel kitchen including oven, grill, dishwasher, washing machine and Dryer; over 100sqm of solid oak flooring, designer furniture and two balconies can be described as a bolthole as for not available clubhouse your received a discount bc of it and had access to pool, tennis court and the sports facility.

We appriciate your suggestion about the microwave and have now one in our kitchen.
