Small but great location

The apartment is easy to get to from the airport and is situated in the centre of the old town. The location is great- only 5-10 minute walk from the bus stop and 10 minutes from a fairly large white sandy beach. Within a few hundred yards of the apartment, the streets are lined with shops and restaurants along beautiful cobbled streets (stiletto heels not recommended!!).
The apartment itself is very small, but ideal for 2 people (even though it suggests up to 4 people). It is well equipped but there is a mish-mash of cutlery and utensils and the furniture is a little dated, however this does give the apartment some added character! One thing to note is that there are NO WINDOWS!! This can make the room very dark and in the summer months, very hot too! In addition, the TV didn't work, however there is free wi-fi.
Overall, this apartment has a great central location.
Owner's Response: We would like to thank our guests for their comments
We are very proud of our apartment and like to address all our guests' concerns in detail.
TV: The week before the guests arrival, the aerial on the roof had become dislodged, due to strong winds. The TV itself is in perfect working order, our apologies for this. Hopefully you were not to inconvinienced.
FURNITURE and equipment: The furniture was all purchased brand-new in 2007, and it is an old rustic style. We have replaced a few plates and glasses over the last two summers, as not all guests are equally careful, but that is to be expected. The bed with its very good mattress is something we are especially proud of, as most self-catering apartments do not have a mattress of such high quality.
GUESTS: The advert clearly states the apartment is: "Best suited for a couple, but can sleep up to four." Based on this information, mosts guests can decide if they want comfort for two, or save money and just have a place to sleep and eat for more than 2 people.
WINDOW: Typical of ground floor properties in the old town, there is a very large double outer door, almost like a church door, and a large glass inner door. Most guests leave the outer door open and just close the inner door, which brings in lots of light. As to the heat, yes, it gets hot in Alghero in summer. In the apartment it remains relatively cool though, because the walls are so thick. Also, there is a fan and a dehumidifyer, which most people are happy with.
Adding air-conditioning can add as much as €120 to the monthly electricity bill, but we will be adding air-conditioning for next summer.
Overall, glad you had a good time, and hope you will come again.
