Attractive architect designed house with all mod cons. Ideal summer holiday rental for families, but also perfect for just one or two people to spread out and relax in! We have a large enclosed garden and a modern 10x 4 pool with poolside sunbathing area. Our house is situated on the outskirts of Duras,a small Bastide village and is within easy reach of local shops and restaurants. The spacious well equipped kitchen /dining room makes self catering a real pleasure. Sliding doors to terrace and garden. The terrace provides a delightful covered al fresco dining area, and barbecue facilities. It is also the ideal place to sit and look at the garden, and enjoy the stunning views over the surrounding countryside. The large, thoughtfully furnished living room with recessed study area also has sliding doors leading onto the terrace. With 3 large double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (master bedroom en suite) the house comfortably sleeps 6 people. Off -road parking for two cars.

Duras and the surrounding area is bursting with sightseeing opportunities. The historic Chateau de Duras is a 'must- see' as is the bustling Duras Monday morning market. Sport and leisure activities include walking and hiking, cycling, swimming and tennis, canoeing, horse riding and even hot air ballooning ! There are many thriving local vineyards where you can enjoy wine tasting and tours of the premises. You can buy your wine and put it in the back of the car,or have it shipped to anywhere you wish . The local food is bountiful and delicious with many local cheeses to try - not to mention the fois gras, pates, and wonderful seasonal fruit and vegetables ! The area is very peaceful and rural and there is a lot to be said for having a lazy lunch in the garden, with a good book to read in the afternoon while you contemplate which bottle of wine to open next, and what to have for supper!

Had a fantastic time here back in June. House is lovely, pool is fantastic - bigger than you'd expect. Duras is just up the hill which means you have to expend a bit of energy before supper (if you choose to go out that is, the terrace is v.nice too) but at least the walk home is easy. You probably need to have a car though as the supermarket would be a bit of a walk. All in all, thoroughly nice place, would definitely take a few friends back for some more pool volleyball.

Wonderful villa in beautiful part of France

We have just returned from a lovely holiday here. The villa is stunning - the pictures do not do it justice even though they look nice. It is very large and well-equipped, as a family of four we had more than enough room. The villa is very clean, light and airy and the kitchen/diner and living room are both very spacious. We enjoyed eating out on the terrace in the evenings with a view of the Dordogne countryside. The swimming pool felt like it was heated it was so warm. Duras itself is a small picturesque town with 3 or 4 cafes, and restaurants, and a historic chateau. Correspondence with the owner prior to the stay was excellent - very helpful and informative. We would definitely like to return.
