Can Albert stay - 19 July - 2 August 2008

We are two families who wanted a larger property with a pool - the description of this villa matched that on the website, though the owner is yet to provide a safe. Can Albert is in an isolated rural location and very peaceful - far too quiet for those looking for a lively nightlife. A car is essential - the nearest towns and supermarkets are 7km away. There are lots of fantastic sandy beaches within a 30 minutes or so drive - those at L'Hospitalet were our favourites, though families with very young children need to be aware that some beaches slope sharply into the sea with no shallows. L'Ametlla is a small fishing port and very pretty, with a wide selection of restaurants, bars and cafes - also close by is El Perello, another small town. We found this area very "Spanish", which made a welcome change. At the villa the pool area is fantastic and immaculately kept, with the accommodation equally clean and well looked after - pictures on the web site do not do it justice. The large fridge was useful and the kitchen is well equipped with ample crockery and cutlery provided. Another nice touch is the provision of bathing towels - more than enough to go around for everyone. Outside of the villa surrounds there is a vast "wilderness" area ideal for our teenaged boys to kick a football, play tennis or practice their golf without disturbing anyone. There is also an abundance of bird life. Watch the insect life though as we all got bitten - the owners had thoughtfully provided lotion and cotton wool as part of their welcome pack. Bottled water is another essential, since the water is not suitable to drink. The owners live "on site" and are very approachable, friendly, helpful and informative, and in no way intrusive. They were eager to receive our comments, observations and suggestions during our stay. There are plenty of information leaflets about local attractions, and the internet access supplemented this nicely. We found all we were looking for at this property and more, and would have no hestitation in recommending it to those wanting to recharge their batteries in a quiet "out of the way" location.

Owner's Response: I'd just like to correct a couple of things. There are plenty of lovely, safe beaches within 10-15 minutes drive, the nearest town with supermarket (El Perello) is just over 4 km.away and our water is suitable for drinking.
