Photos and Description of this Seine-Maritime holiday cottage 2 bedroom gîte (sleeps 6) with well-equipped living areas - children welcome.

Attractive self-catering 2 bedroom gîte (sleeps 6) retaining many original features in picturesque rural hamlet of Le Boulay. Upstairs has 1 double & 1 twin bedroom and a modern family shower room. Downstairs there is very comfortable & well-equipped living accommodation with a large kitchen/dining room (with washing machine) & a lounge with a double sofa-bed. The gîte has its own private entrance & patio area ideal for BBQ's. The gîte is attached to the English owners accommodation & lovely garden with animals including ducks and chickens which provide fresh eggs. Children are particularly welcome & baby equipment can be supplied. The owners are extremely knowledgeable about the local area and happy to offer advice on the many places to visit. The area is ideal for walkers & cyclists and there are many châteaux, gardens, farms & museums nearby. Rouen is less than 30 mins drive and Paris & the Normandy beaches are approx. 2 hours away. All utilities & household linen are included.

Location: Seine-Maritime in France

The gîte is situated in the Andelle Valley on the edge of the forest of Lyon which offers plenty of opportunities for walkers & cyclists. There are also swimming pools, pony clubs & tennis courts all in the local vicinity. There are many chateaux, farms, museums & gardens nearby, including Monet's garden at Giverny. Flaubert's famous novel - Madame Bovary - was set in the area and the local village of Ry celebrates this connection. The beautiful old city of Rouen is less than 30 mins away and Paris and the Normandy war beaches are approx. 2 hours drive from the cottage. Many of the local villages offer regular traditional markets. There are a number of restaurants nearby from traditional French to international cuisine and one of the few Grand Casinos in France is situated just a few minutes drive away at Forge-Les-Eaux.

We are just back from a 2 week holiday in this truly charming and beautifullly stocked and presented Gite. Avril, Mick, Boris, Jasper, the chickens and ducks are all amazing hosts and very child friendly - our two children adored the place. A beautiful sun trap of a place to just sit back and relax in. It is the heart of some beautiful and evocative Normandy countryside. Plenty of local sites and experiences to enjoy such as regular fetes in Forges les Eaux, a wonderful market in Buchy and beautiful rare breeds park in Clere's and a bizarre but very enjoyable puppet museum at Ry to name but a few. For the more cosmopolitan Medieval Rouen is also just a short drive away and Dieppe is just less than an hour's drive away. Note that the banks of the Seine are much nearer than the coast so not a place for beach lovers, although there are beaches on the Seine and a lovely lido at Petit Andeley. Do be prepared to drive, but don't let this put you off. We imagine it would be just as nice in the winter as it is in the summer - indeed we hope to return to find out for ourselves.
