Typical villa inside an 18th century farm, near Serra da Estrela, Portugal.The main house has a chapel from 1799. The farm has a vineyard where you can see how the grapes are picked to produce the well-known Portuguese wine. It also has 100 sheep with is shepherd, and you can learn how the sheep are milked, to produce the “Serra da Estrela Cheese” or “Queijo da Serra”- the most famous cheese, not only in Portugal but also among appraiser all over the world. Just 60km away (in a town called Viseu) you can play golf (Golf Montebelo) or you can relax in the “Caldas da Felgueira termas (21 km away), or 'Termas de Alcafache' (40 km) where you can enjoy a massage and other spa treatments. If this house surrounded by plenty of wildlife isn’t enough, you can also visit Serra da Estrela, the highest mountain in Portugal, and enjoy the beautiful sightseeing and snow in the winter.Mountain bike, Trekking, Horse riding.

The house is located inside 'Quinta S.Jacinto', a typical farm, being in the family since 1799.'Quinta S.Jacinto' is situated in MIDOES,a litlle village between TABUA and OLIVEIRA DO HOSPITAL.The owners are a very well known family in the region.The property is near Serra da Estrela ( ski & Snowboard) just 54 km distance , Coimbra (oldest university in Europe), 67 Km away, Viseu ( golf courses),60 km, Termas de Alcafache. Typical village - Piodão (49 km).Just 23 km you can enjoy river beach and Water Skiing as well as Windsurf, in 'Sra.da Ribeira'. Between countryside and mountains.

Golf: You can play at 'Golf Montebelo' in Viseu. Just 60 km away.

Water Ski and Snow Ski/Snowboard: you can enjoy both. In the Winter, in 'Serra da Estrela' is available one track .The total distance is 54 km from the farm. Visit also 'Museu do Pão' ( Bread Museum) or 'Museu Grão Vasco' in Viseu. In Summer you can enjoy water ski at 'Sra.da Ribeira ' 23 km away from the house.

The accomodation is part of the farm estate which has been in the owner's family for over 200 years (the ornately decorated ceiling of the family chapel bears the date 1799). It's a working farm and produce is sent to local co-operatives. The short walk to the swimming pool takes you under vines, past olives trees and the herd of sheep with bells tinkling around their necks. Throw in a field of sunflowers, orange, peach and pear trees and the setting is idyllic. The accommodation is big enough for 5 in the summer when you're spending most of the day outdoors and using the barbecue (there is a double hot-plate but no oven). Out of season, I imagine 3 or 4 would be the absolute max. All the furniture and fittings are new, everything is spotlessly clean and there's more than enough bed linen, towels, crockery and cutlery which makes a pleasant change. No discos or trendy bars nearby so will not suit everyone but our teenage daughters loved it. The eldest rode a few times in Midoes, the local village, and there are other outdoor activities all around. Nearest shops and places to eat are just a mile away in the village and the owners were incredibly helpful too, both before and during our stay. We would thoroughly recommended it to anyone and we started planning our return almost before our stay had come to an end

Lovely accommodation in an idyllic spot.

The cottage is beautifully restored and extremely well-equipped but the highlight is the views over the lush valley of the farm to the peaks of the Serra da 'Estrela. The loudest sound are the chimes of the bells around the necks of the sheep grazing the hills - herded by Joseph and his son. The walk to the pool through the terraces is also a delight.
Luis is extemely helpful and eager to make people comfortable - as are all the others on the farm.
Good walks in the area and the village is friendly.
Thoroughly recommended for those wanting peace & quiet - although my teenage boys also enjoyed it!
