The Veneto: The Veneto is greener and has a more comfortable climate than more southern parts of Italy. It has a wealth of wonderful historic cites: Venice, Verona, Vicenza, Asolo and Treviso are all easily accessible by the excellent, cheap and efficient Italian train service which is just 10 minutes from the apartments. You can even get to Florence from our local station by Eurostar in about 3 and a half hours!
The Veneto and Venice have never been more economical to visit. Because of the huge difference in air ticket prices day-to-day, we are not insisting on a particular change-over day as long as it fits with bookings we already have. This also means we can offer extra nights beyond our minimum seven, pro rata the weekly rates.
Things to see and do: There is so much else to experience in the Veneto. From the delightful local restaurants and trattorias where you eat so well and so cheaply to hang gliding off San Boldo for the more adventurous. Lago de Santa Croce which is Italy's most famous lake for wind-surfing is only half an hour's drive. And the beautiful beaches of the Adriatic are about one hour's drive away. It goes without saying that the Veneto has some wonderful Palladium villas, churches, cathedrals and museums all within easy distance from Collaldra. And Venice speaks for itself with its Grand Canal, the cathedral of San Marco, churches, galleries and the Islands easily reached by the vaporetto (water bus).
Local Events: The great local markets, Vittorio Veneto, Conigliano and Piave de Soligo - Monday, Friday and Saturday all within a 20 minute drive - are a must where you can buy anything for very little money. The people are very helpful and friendly even if you don't speak the language.
There are may other attractions for example from June through to September there are festivals throughout the area where they celebrate the harvest and anything else they can think of just so they can eat, drink, talk, laugh and dance to local bands under the stars
One of the most popular sports in our area because of the hills is cycling.
We can arrange to hire bicycles and also put you in touch with the local cycling clubs.
