Getting there:
The nearest airport is Plovdiv which has charter flights in winter. The travelling time by car is approximately 1.5hrs.
There is a wider choice of flights to Sofia all year round. Wizzair fly from Luton, Easyjet from Gatwick, BGAir from Manchester, Heathrow and Gatwick and BA from Heathrow. Travelling time is approx 3 hours from Sofia.
We can arrange airport pick up from Sofia or Plovdiv.
Car hire is necessary and since the road to the village was completely reconstructed in summer 2008 it is a pleasure to drive and see the scenery. 4WD or snow chains are essential in winter. We use Savoy Rent
There is the option for jeep hire as they are very reliable. It costs approx 50euro per day for Jeep hire and it is an extra 20 euro a day for a driver. It is possible to hire the driver for the first day only to travel from the airport. Hire of standard cars is about 30 euro per day.

Activities locally:
Total relaxation with a glass of wine on the balcony looking out on to the mountain tops is a favourite occupation at Kushta Brezata. The local villagers are very friendly and practice subsistence agriculture, with local produce available.
If you prefer more action we can help with all ski arrangements during the winter. In the summer hiking is superb and we can arrange mountain guides. The Izgrev Hut is 3 - 4 hours walk from the house and is on a long distance trail. Mountain biking is also popular.
Chepelare is a very pleasant town with an evening promenade in summer and buzzing bars in winter. It has a relaxed family atmosphere with families and friends eating together and prices are considerably cheaper than Pamporovo.
The are many attractive villages reached by scenic drives including Shiroka Luka near Pamporovo. Famous for its preserved local houses and a folk music school. The first weekend in August Gela hosts a weekend folk festival which is a fantastic experience
Excursions further afield:
The 'Wonderful Bridges' is an incredible rock formation in a beautiful setting 30km from the house towards Plovdiv.
Further towards Plovdiv the village a Bachkovo has a superb monastery open to the public and a particularly good restaurant.
Plovdiv itself is the second city of Bulgaria and has a relaxed cafe style culture. It has layers of history with a Roman theatre and preserved Bulgarian Revival period houses, also parks, an Aqua park, excellent shops and restaurants and large supermarkets including Billa and Kaufland, which are great for stocking up.
In the opposite direction the Trigrad gorge and the Devils throat cave are well worth seeing and an easy day trip.
