Fantastic accommodation and location!

Review Submitted: June 25, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We were amazed at the spaciousness, comfort and stunning location of this beautiful bungalow. This feels like (and obviously was) a home, not a purpose built holiday let. Other people have reviewed the local attractions but nearer to home from the sitting room, we were enchanted by the local population of garden birds feeding from the bird table.

We had two wheelchair users in our party one of whom was not easily able to 'dismount' frequently or easily. When we visited the Kite Feeding centre, we were under the impression that the restaurant, toilets and hides were in the same location. The restaurant is in a hotel but this is some distance away from Gigrin Farm where there is a snack facility. Accessible toilets are available but the actual feeding site is a very rough track away. A car can be driven down there for disabled visitors and there are good ramps into the hides. Back at Dolwen, a ramp to the entrance step would be a useful addition.

In the sitting room a wonderful selection of books, both reference and fiction is available. We used the piano but unless you play by ear, bring your own sheet music as there is a limited selection (Bach, Debussy) available.

Plenty of parking space and storage inside the accommodation too. We never did fill all the kitchen cupboards....

The owner was exceptionally helpful and we had a fantastic welcome on arrival.

Very highly recommended and close to perfection!!
Owner's Response: We are glad you had such a nice welcome and stay here. Thank you for your comments, there is an excellent combination of things to do here.

our holiday at Dolwen last week was truly wonderful the description of the bungalow was very accurate and more it was very clean the beds were amazingly comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped this holiday was everything you would want the views outside the bungalow are spectacular and to walk around the garden every evening was truly delightful with the sheep at the bottom of the garden and the wonderful wildlife that is around we found the owner very helpful and easy to to get hold of if you have any special needs or enquiries there are so many things to see near Rhayader the fabulous elan valley trail is a wonder to drive through or stop anywhere and have a picnic or go for a ramble

there are plenty of good food pubs and restaurants three miles down the road take a trip to aberystwyth its a wonderful town and just outside you can watch the red kites being fed or just down the road from the bungalow when you get to your holiday you will be greeted with a warm welcome and a nice cup of tea to start your holiday off

i truly would recommend this holiday with people with children or the elderly or anyone who wants a fabulous holiday my husband and i will definately being going back to Dolwen
Owner's Response: We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay we have tried to focus on the natural attributes and traditional character and all our guests seem to really appreciate this.

We spent 2 weeks at Dolwen and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. the bungalow is very private, light and airy, with lovely views from the comfortable sitting room. The kitchen too is large with plenty of cupboard space and well equipped for anyone who enjoys cooking. A good place for a quiet restful holiday or as a base for visiting many local attractions, and well worth a second visit.
Owner's Response: We always aim to focus on quality and create a restful environment, and guests come back again!

Review Submitted: January 17, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
This is a lovely bungalow. The description is very accurate. It is clean, spacious very well maintained, and tastefully furnished. We had a very warm welcome, and the customer service was excellent. We would certainly recommend the bungalow to friends and relatives. The views are breathtaking. We loved the walks.Hill walks and ground level walks are full of interest, both to the walker and the bird lover. We saw a Buzzard, and Kites while we were there. there are good restaurants, we liked the Strand, and also the refurbished Metropole, the latter inLlandrindod Wells, but there are plenty to choose from. There are good shops in nearby towns, general shops and specialist ones. We will return this Summer.
Owner's Response: We are glad your stay was enjoyable and look forward to welcoming you again in the future!
