A typical Catalan village, St. Laurent has a gorgeous riverside setting, with stunning views of the nearby snow-capped Mount Canigou. Only a 10-minute drive through the Pyrénées to the Spanish border, the village has a fascinating history and is rich in Catalan culture and traditions. Many of these traditions are celebrated in the form of fêtes throughout the year, which include communal meals accompanied by music and dancing, in particular, the “La Sardana” or Catalan circle dance of freedom, which was often depicted by Picasso. You can also enjoy Domaine de Falgos, a beautiful local 18-hole golf course, as well as other activities such as horse riding, canyoning, mountain biking, local walks, climbing, tennis, fishing and, of course, boules. Other local villages such as Prats-de-Mollo, Arles sur Tech, Amélie-les-Bains and Céret all offer their own individual Catalan culture to explore. St. Laurent has a local supermarket, greengrocer, bakery, post office and swimming pool.
Local activities swimming, tennis, walking, cycling, fishing, horse riding, golf, mountain biking

Where nature meets golf
In this little corner of France, where the Pyrénées meet the Mediterranean Sea, nature seduces the senses. Away from the beaches, although they are not so far, the wild romantic hinterland is a paradise for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Discovering the 18-hole golf course, Domaine de Falgos (www.falgos.com), is an experience in itself. The views of the mountains from that altitude are, quite simply, stunning. On the border of Spain, the 5177m2 course is set within some of the best natural obstacles, the mountains, which will surely test your golfing abilities. In addition to the golf, the club also offers a variety of spa treatments, and other facilities such as a swimming pool and gym. The spa caters to your well-being, both physically and spiritually. The many treatments, massages, lymphatic drainage, reflexology, facials and body wraps, are all designed to promote relaxation.
Villages around St. Laurent de Cerdans
The villages of Coustouge, Prats-de-Mollo, Arles-sur-Tech, Amélie-les-Bains and Céret are all between a 5- and 30-minute drive away from St. Laurent de Cerdans. They offer a variety of historical, art and cultural areas to explore. The area has many Roman influences among the many fortresses, churches and abbeys. Also nearby are modern art museums and local markets, such as the famous weekly Saturday market in Céret, which sells everything from locally produced foods, such as honey, oil and juice to a variety of arts and crafts. Gorges de la Fou, on the way to Arles-sur-Tech, is renowned as being the narrowest canyon in the world. It is a natural crevasse where you can experience the beauty of stalagmites and stalactites. Many local festivals also take place throughout the year in the villages.
Beaches
The coasts of France and Spain offer a choice of over 200km of golden sands. The journey times to the beaches are between 50 minutes and 2 hours, depending on which ones appeal. On the French side, Argelès sur Mer, Canet, St. Cyprien and St. Marie le Barcarès are the most popular choices of beach. On the Spanish side, the Costa Brava offers beaches such as Roses, Lloret de Mar, Empuriabrava and many more. Heading to the Spanish beaches is an excellent opportunity to explore the many villages, cafés and restaurants along the way, and also a good excuse to sample the local Sangria!
