Leith, Edinburgh's principal port, lies at the mouth of the Water of Leith, where it enters the Firth of Forth. It has much historical interest, becoming Edinburgh's official port in 1329. From the apartment's balcony you often have the stunning view of large ships berthed at the Ocean Terminal. Leith developed in association with ship building, rope making, saw milling and flour milling. Now it has become Edinburgh's up and coming residential area, with a really wide variety of places to eat and drink as well as many other attractions. Near the apartment there are picturesque marinas, restaurants specialising in seafood, and interesting pubs, and it is possible to take boat trips on the River Forth. The beach at Portobello is a short distance to the east, together with the rest of the beautiful coastline. There are excellent public transport links, not only to all of Edinburgh's attractions but, for instance, over the spectacular Forth bridges to Fife and south to the Scottish border

This was our first visit in Edinburgh and it is true to say that Portland Apartment is FIRST CLASS accommodation! The apartment is brand new and the rooms are very comfortable; spacious and clean. The apartment is also very well equipped. The location is close to the city centre -only 15 minutes by bus- but in case you fancy to stay in the area there are plenty of amenities including many cafes and restaurants. Ian and Jean are very friendly and provided excellent personalised service. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for accommodation in Edinburgh!

Ian and I were delighted with the review posted by Evagoras and Eleni. We believe, and certainly hope, that it is a true reflection of our apartment and the service we try to provide for our guests. Ian and I do our best to make sure the standards are exactly what we would want for ourselves.
Portland Apartment has only become available for rental this Spring, and we hope the review will inspire, and give confidence to, other visitors who are thinking of making a booking with us. Please note, however, that our reviewers were unaware, when they ticked the options for suitability, that we are unable to accept pets, single-sex "getaways", or children under 12 [because of the balcony].
