Newly modernised and redecorated in cooling shades, this south facing ground floor annexe of a typical 'ancien' stone Perigordian house has its own entrance, driveway and pretty garden. There is scented lilac and lavender lining the driveway and views across corn fields and a walnut grove. The bedroom has a Queen size double bed and plenty of cupboard space. The bathroom has been completely modernised with a bath & separate walk-in shower. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, cooker & dishwasher and the living area has a sofa, Cable TV/DVD and HiFi. The rustic garden is totally private with a barbeque, table and chairs for alfresco dining. A must is a swim in the pools of the River Ceou and the best spot is the 'Cascades' only a 3 minute walk from the house. The annexe will appeal to those seeking the calm and tranquility of the countryside but convenient to the many attractions of this area - the 'Golden Triangle'.

Perigord Noir is known for its beautiful countryside, Chateaux, fine wine & food - truffles & 'foie gras'. Our village's organic supermarket sources vegetables and fruit from local farmers. We have a pizzeria & a cafe/bar serving local dishes. The river Ceou runs through the valley & there are 'cascades' with deep pools for swimming minutes from us across a walnut grove. Castelnaud La Chapelle famous for its medieval Chateau, is 5 minutes drive. On the river Dordogne, its a centre for hiring canoes and has an award winning boulangerie, butchers, cafe, shop and a basque restaurant overlooking the river. Our neighbour up the valley, Daglan, is one of the prettiest villages in Dordogne. It has a michelin restaurant. Other attractions inc - too many Chateaux to list - Pre-historic caves, the Jardins de Marqueyssac, the markets and SARLAT 'one of the most attractive medieval towns in France' Lonely Planet.   • The rental price includes a 'welcome pack' of basic essentials, linen and towels which are changed each week. We ask for a non-refundable 30% deposit to be paid within 8 days of booking. This will secure the reservation - the remaining amount should be paid no later than 6 weeks before the commencement date. Cable TV which includes original language films, BBC and CNN is available for an additional £10 per week. An accidental damage deposit of £150 is also required on arrival which will be returned within 1 week of departure.
  • The Annexe is sometimes available for Easter and Xmas - rates on request.

A relaxing holidat retreat

A pretty, charming, small getaway. Clean and stylish with a lovely garden and a private drive.
The property was cool and nice to come home to with a great shower and bathroom. The owner is friendly and helpful. However, the sofa was not comfortable for two adults. The cooker wasn't cleaned and the storage is limited (the owner stores her own things in some of the cupboards). The surrounding small towns and villages are fantastic but the area recommended for swimming is disappointing and littered. The local Pizzeria was excellent value and served great food. We have rated this property with 3 stars but with a lttle more thought it has the potential to be an excellent 5 stars.

A very comfortable, well maintained property, more than adequate for two people. The description was entirely accurate. The owner provided excellent service and was helpful, friendly and courteous throughout. We would recommend the property to a friend. We very much enjoyed visiting the towns, villages and chateaux of the Dordogne valley, and found several nice restaurants to spend our evenings. Lovely swimming pool 10K away - hardly anyone there! No need to drive very far to explore the area.

Lovely quiet annexe ideal for sightseeing

This was a great find. Would recommend the annexe to friends as it was clean and fresh, well equipped and newly refurbished. The owner is helpful and friendly. It was great to have a private drive and large private outside space.

It was early in the season so it was quiet which meant that the local restaurant was closed for 2 nights a week (opens 7 days a week from July) but it is a really nice place to eat with reasonable prices.

The annexe is close to many attractions - castles and fortified towns are within a short drive. Canoeing on the river is a must and can be arranged in the local village.
