Photos and Description of this Obidos - Praia del Rey holiday house Stunning, peaceful self-catering villa on the Silver Coast - sleeps 4/6 people.

A beautiful, modern two bedroom house, both bedrooms with en-suite bath/shower rooms. Decorated in the traditional Portuguese style, the villa has its own pool (6 metres by 2.5 metres), large patio and covered BBQ area. Inside there is a large living room, with open fire for visitors in the Autumn and Winter months. The kitchen is fully fitted with a dishwasher, gas cooker, fridge and washing machine. Central heating. The bedrooms are laid out with one room a double and the other with twin beds. Both have plenty of storage space. There is a comfortable sofa bed in the living room which can sleep 2 people. The house has a balcony to the front and terraces all around which have amazing views of the Obidos Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean. The villa is located on a small condominium in the picturesque village of Arelho, close to the World Heritage site town of Obidos. There are wonderful beaches nearby and great facilities at Obidos, Foz do Arelho, Praia d'El Rei and Bom Sucesso.

Nearby attractions include the stunningly beautiful town of Obidos, which is a World Heritage site. The town is famous for its medieval cobbled streets and beautiful flower covered houses. There are several golden, sandy beaches nearby, those on the lagoon are suitable for swimming and small children, those facing the ocean are ideal for surfing and wind-surfing. For beginners there are surf and sailing schools nearby. A short drive along the coast brings you to Praia d'El Rei, one of Portugal's premier resorts with its world class golf course. You can hire clubs or have lessons with the professionals in the greens amid the dunes. While Praia d'El Rei is the best course in the area it's not the only one. There are several within a short drive. If that all sounds a little energetic there are also top-class restaurants close-by. Whether it's fine dining in the castle at Obidos or eating freshly caught fish on the sea-front in Peniche, there is something for all tastes and prices.

Cosy and comfortable villa

We spent a marvelous holiday at the house in Arelho. It's a comfortable place to relax in the evenings after spending the day with sight-seeing. It is excellently equipped and very clean and spacious. Everything turned out the way it was described. Matt was always helpful and friendly, for example in describing the way to the house and sending us more detailed information and photos..
We especially adored the evenings in the garden with the amazing view of the laguna. The pool always invited for a swim and refreshment.
If you like to see more of Portugal, here's the best starting point. You can get anywhere in Portugal from here by car.
The house in Arelho provides a calm and cosy atmosphere, especially after a long day of driving around the country.
If you're interested in the region, here are some tips where to go: the laguna, Obidos, Batalha, Lisboa, Tomar etc.
If you prefer the beaches, they are not far away and recommendable.
For your shopping there are several supermarkets in Calda about a ten minute drive from the house.
If you want to spend an unforgettable holiday, just stay at the house in Arelho.

Lovely villa, great location. Loads to explore!

We had a fantastic time in Arelho. Needed the car, but everything was well within easy driving range. Great view of the lagoon from the villa - and some great little drives to the towns on either side. Handy in both directions for supermarkets - both Caldas and Obidos have the lot. Local shop/cafe handy for essentials. Local villagers extremely friendly - bom dia or boa tarde all the time.

The local beaches are vast and clean, and we had the choice of laid back swimming in the lagoon, or some fairly serious surf on the atlantic side of things. Plenty of other sports available locally including kite boarding , golf (always the golf...) and mountain biking.

But far and away the best bit was the villa. Good directions, and very easy to check n and out. Really nice place to stay. Comfy, clean, and very well fitted out with a nice modern decor that fits completely with the traditional Portugese setting. Long evenings by the pool, barbecuing the fish/meat/vegetable of your choice, and putting the world to right over a glass or three of wine - very very enjoyable indeed.

First of all I have to say, for me Portugal is the best place to visit, stay, rest and live. Therefore I decided to take my whole family to this very nice country, where there is a great food, sunshine all over the year, and the most important - extremely kind and helpful people speaking the language impossible to learn. Because my Boss had a great experience with greatrentals.com, I have found good offer and it was it. Owner, Matt is a very nice guy and I had very good communication with him, from the initial question up to the final rental.

New house, equipped with really everything you need, is placed on small and very quiet village Arelho, with view on Lagoa de Obidos. You have to have car to get there, although is is not so easy if you are going to do it at night. There is a private pool, barbecue and fireplace in the saloon - nice to have ;) There is no TV, radio and Internet connection, so it is a great place to rest far from civilization. You can say your boss, there was no mobile coverage either, so you are free. Super service - we had a small problem with sink during our stay - Matt resolved remotely this within an hours. Really worth to rent especially, if you are with your family (we were 3 adults and 2 children). I am sure I will come back soon. Thanks Matt :)

If you want to get away from it all and experience a beautiful part of Portugal then this is the place for you. The holiday home is on the edge of a small local village with gorgeous views across the lagoon. The property is packed with everything you could possibly need, very clean and spacious. A small drive away you can visit some amazing beaches, enjoy the local countryside, wonder the streets of Obidos or if you are feeling energetic book in for golf and surf lessons. A great palce to unwind.
