Villa Gandolfo, a spacious and inviting home, equipped by the owners with everything to make your holiday a relaxing and pleasurable experience is available as a whole sleeping up to 10 (8 in 4 bedrooms in the house and 2 in the apartment) or as two units - 4 bathrooms in all. The pool in lovely terracing with wheelchair access, is shared between the Villa and the apartment. The house is easily found, accessed by a lane leading off the main road and is peaceful but not isolated. Ceglie Messapica is only 5 minutes away by car with 2 good supermarkets, lots of specialist food shops and a market every Saturday. Ostuni. Martina Franca, Cisternino, Locorotundo and Alberobello and the beautiful Adriatic are all within 30 minutes drive or less. All the rooms are airy and light, with shutters and fly screens and comfortably furnished to a high standard with opportunities to eat together inside and out or to find a peaceful corner in the shade or sun to have a quiet moment with your book

Outside the villa and apartment are approached through a set of double gates with ample parking for cars and visitors’ cars. The villa grounds are large with a hedged lawn at the front, shaded by some large conifers with a bench strategically placed to afford some cool shade in the heat of the day. The trullis enjoy their own terraces and gardens and overlook the peaceful meadow. Steps and a separate gentle curving slope lead through the terraced garden from the drive down to the large pool terrace, which is a real sheltered and private sun trap. The terrace is constructed of Indian stone, which makes a very safe non slip surface in this area. The pool is large, 12m x 6m, and is lined so has a pleasant look and feel to it; Roman steps afford easy access into the shallow end and there is a 2.5m deep hopper at the other end to make diving possible. The pool has a heat retaining cover so the pool remains warm overnight so that you can enjoy a refreshing early morning dip.

Situated near the Adriatic coast, Villa Gandolfo is ideally situated for a relaxed break and at the same time makes an ideal location for exploring the rich cultural centres in the area which is also famous for its distinctive and excellent foods and wines. Other than Lecce to the South, which is a real must to visit, all the surrounding towns are small and unique in their own way and in August, each and every one has their own festivals where you can watch international and local entertainers and musicians in the most amazing piazzas in the historic centres. On the coast, you can enjoy water sports at any number of lidos or find the water park near Fasano where you can cool off after a day at the Safari Park. Churches and archaeological sites abound and the area is full of history and antiquity redolent of its chequered heritage. Above all enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful and richly fertile area and the fruits of the soil which are plentiful.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Payment by cheque or bank transfer only. 50% of the total on registration, the balance to be paid 8 weeks before the commencement date of the holiday. If the booking is made within 8 weeks of departure, the full payment is required on registration. If we do not receive cleared funds by 8 weeks before date of commencement of the holiday, we reserve the right to re-let the property; your deposit will only be returned if we are successful in re letting for the full period at the same rent.
  • The house is cleaned and all linen changed every Saturday. If you require extra cleaning during the week it can be arranged at a cost of approx. E10 per hour and should be paid directly to the cleaner in Italy.
  • The price includes reasonable use of gas, electricity, hot and cold water and all necessary linen (inc. pool towels). There is an additional cost of £150 per week for the house and £30 per week for the apartment during Low Season, to be added to your final payment. Costs for breakages during your stay, will be taken from the deposit of £750 for the house and £250 each for the other units, which is taken with your final payment

There is plenty of linen (2 pillows per person); even pool towels are provided so that you can travel as lightly as possible; linen is changed every week and a cot is also available. All bedrooms have ample hanging space, drawer space; each bed has a bedside table and light and each bedroom has a fan
