This spacious ground floor apartment with large terrace is situated at the Western edge of the unspoilt fishing village of Santa Luzia (Capital of the Octopus). With stunning views of the Ria Formosa and close to all the local amenities which include, fresh fish restaurants, grocery shops, snack bars, bank, pharmacy and small gift shops. The amazing beaches of Tavira Island are only a short ferry ride away or Barril Beach, close to Pedras del Rei is a miniature train ride or walk from the apartment. The beaches are safe for children and swimming, on some days you can try body boarding, windsurfing etc. All of the above are all within easy walking distance so a hire car is not needed. This is a perfect location for beach lovers, cyclists, walkers or golfers. The apartment has an outside shower on the private terrace. You can enjoy local cuisine or watch the amazing sunsets on the terrace with a glass of wine and some grilled local prawns with maybe some Piri Piri!

Our apartment is situated in a superb location, only 8km from Junction 16 on the A22 motorway and enjoys the beautiful tranquility of the unspoilt Eastern Algarve in the small fishing village of Santa Luzia near Tavira. The beach Islands of the Ria Formosa are renowned for being peaceful, uncrowded and safe, unpolluted and extend for 12km. Santa Luzia beach is a ferry ride away from the waterfront and Barril beach a train ride away, you can see this from the terrace. There are restaurants, cafes, showers and also boat and windsurf rentals. Tavira is 4km away and offers yet more restaurants and a great range of shops and supermarkets (Pingo Doce, Lidle). The river Gilao runs through the centre of town and on those warm summer nights public entertainment can be found in the square by the river. We have two adult mountain bikes that can be used but punctures and repairs are down to yourselves!

  • Prices for the property are per week in UK Pounds based on 2 people sharing, add £35 for each additional person per week. Discounts for longer winter lets. Change over day is normally Saturday but we are flexible so please ask. A deposit of 25% is required on booking with the balance due 8 weeks before departure. If departure is before 8 weeks, full payment required. A breakages deposit of £100 is required on booking and will be returned to you once the apartment has been cleaned and checked after your departure. Fresh linen and towels are changed on day of arrival, for guests staying two weeks or more, linen and towels will be changed on a weekly basis.

Notes: The apartment is brand new, we have ceiling to floor patio doors from the living area and kitchen area to the large 7.3m x 3.5m terrace. There is a table which seats 4, two deck chairs and two sun loungers, also a dining area inside the kitchen. The kitchen is fully equiped, along with the above mentioned cooker etc, it is fully equiped with kettle, toaster, lots of cutlery and cooking utensils, glasses and cups, sufficient to prepare a dinner party for 4. The lounge has a chest of drawers with a number of books, DVDs, a selection of CDs and kids colouring books and games.

Local Amenities: The water park is in Vilamora and is great fun, try not to go on a bank holiday though!! You can swim with the dolphins at Zoomarine. There are local markets, details in the Resident Paper and at the appartment. The apartment is within easy reach of the N125 or the A22 motorway so you can see the whole of the wonderful Algarve. There is car hire in Tavira or Faro Airport or a taxi from the Airport to the apartment is between 38/45€ depending on times of arrival.

The apartment was exactly as it was described. Very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed staying there!! The appartment it is very closed to the beach and the little paceful village. We would gladly stay there again and again! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY

Well equipped apt Santa Luzia

Thanks for providing a lovely well equipped apt. We had a great time and spent 2 weeks just relaxing on the beautiful beaches and the large balcony (which was an unexpected bonus). Some great restaurants, our favourites French restaurant Vincent and Canto Azul both a short stroll from apt. Both restaurants not cheap but excellent food and prices comparable with good restaurant at home. Supermarket close to apt had everything we needed, recommend morning rolls. We hope to return in the future.

The house is very functional, well located and the night to see a beautiful sunset.

Perfect place to stay near Tavira

A lovely & surprisingly spacious, well equipped & clean apartment in a charming village near Tavira.
Quiet relaxing beaches are only a short ride on (provided) bikes or a water taxi ride away.
The nearest town, Tavira (only 15 mins away on the bikes) is where you'll find the Supermarkets although the local shop - 5 mins walk from the apartment - has more than the necessities.
Local restaurants along the estuary front in Santa Luiza are worth a visit as are the sights in Tavira.
This is the perfect get-away holiday which my partner & I would like to re-visit.
I WOULD 100% RECOMMEND THIS APARTMENT.

A lovely spacious apartment in a beautiful area

We would highly recommend this apartment. We had a very relaxing holiday. The view from the terrace is of countryside with the little train in the distance and the coastal train just visable. Birds and sheep also add to the interesting and lovely view. The apartment is very well equipped and being able to use the bikes was excellent! Although we did hire a car and would recommend visiting Alcoutim which is along the river going north overlooking Spain, you wouldn't need a car as the beach, restaurants and shop (small but sells everything!) in the village are walkable and there is a train which runs along the coast. Although the beach is not on the doorstep, it is easily reached by the little train or cycle or walk and adds to the fun! The beach is a lovely wide sandy beach and has a section patrolled by a lifeguard. We didn't think the sea would be warm enough to go swimming in May - but it was! Also toilets nearby on the beach along with some (bit pricey) restaurant/cafes. The village of St Luzia is a lovely little village with some good restaurants and Tavira which is a short cycle away is a lovely interesting place with a lot of choice of places to eat.
