Lovely small house with garden in the heart of Collioure

Set in the Cote Vermeille where the mountain foothills of the Alberes mountains dip their toes in the sparkling blue Mediterranean, Collioure is a delight. A charming Catalan town with its own beaches, bays and creeks, nearby a further 15 kilometres of clean, safe, sandy coastline basks in an average 300 days of sunshine a year. You can enjoy all this and more from your holiday home, available for the first time in May 2008, this property is the top floor of a classic Collioure Maison de Ville and situated in the very centre of this delightful, historical and ever popular small town. It promises you an authentic South of France experience in the best possible tradition.

Collioure is a fully fledged town with all the necessary facilities, plus shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants. And a year round attraction except, perhaps, in February when traditionally even the year round traders take a break. Dining choices range from take-away pizzas to a Michelin starred gem - ‘Le Neptune’ – temptingly within walking distance of the villa. Countless galleries reflect Collioure’s Fauvist art heritage, plus ample gift stores, and two farmers’ markets a week. Within 2 hours drive you have: St Cyprien (20mins) – a large, modern marina and port with stunning mainly empty beaches and loads of parking; Gerona (60mins) a bustling but ancient Spanish city; Carcassone’s (90mins) castellated splendour; Barcelona (150 mins) Spain’s second city; Andorra & The Pyrenees (120 mins). Once home to Picasso, Ceret is also well worth a visit (30 mins).

Local activities walking, swimming, surfing, sailing, fishing, wind-surfing, golf, cycling, horse riding, water skiing, diving, tennis

For a golfing break

The 18 hole St Cyprien course is about 6900 yards (medal tees) par 72, flat, fairly featureless, a cross between links and parkland, and technically demanding. The 9 hole is 3000 yards (medal) par 35, also flat, but more scenically attractive (parkland, with more trees and water) and although less demanding, is probably more fun, and it’s worth considering playing twice to get the 18 holes in preference to the ‘big course’. Facilities are excellent, and it’s possible to hire clubs, trolleys etc. Cost of a round is between 40 and 55 euros depending on the time of year.

or altervatively - other nearby courses

Golf du Domaine de Falgos is an outstandingly beautiful, relatively short (5500 yards, par 70) and technically interesting parkland/forest course, but not annoyingly ‘tricky’ as some short courses are. It’s difficult to imagine a golf course being here in the mountains, but it’s worth the twisty journey just to see it. Predictably, the course is hilly/undulating, but exhilarating! The facilities are excellent, and clubs, trolleys and carts can be hired. Golf de Carcassonne is a parkland course, characterised by wide fairways, fast and challenging greens, some very interesting holes (1, 9 and 18 involve either steep climbs or drops) and lovely views across rolling countryside. It is just over 6300 yards, par 71. Cost of a round about 35 to 45 euros, and half sets of clubs and trolleys/carts can be hired.

Firework spectacular!

During the week commencing August 9th Collioure will start it's big party week of the year - Fêtes de la Saint Vincen - four days of music, dancing, and general celebration. For guests arriving on the 9th you have all sorts of fun to join in or just watch. For guests arriving for the week commencing August 16th, you arrive on the last night just in time for a firework display that will blow you right away!
