This is a beautiful 17th Century Courtyard Farmhouse which has been extensively, refurbished and furnished to a high standard. The stone buildings are set in 2 acres of private gardens and courtyard just South of Utah Beach. Spacious fully furnished Gites and Bed & Breakfast accommodation is now available which are ideal for the larger family or groups. The farm was the center of intense fighting on D-Day and is regularly visited by Veterans, historians and Re-enactors every year. The property is most conveniently situated just off the N13, ten minutes drive from Utah Beach, just 40 minutes from Cherbourg and Bayeux. Many glorious and unspoiled beaches are within easy reach, as are the D-Day Beaches, places of historical interest such as Mont St Michel and the Bayeux Tapestry. Horse riding for all ages is readily available on site or on the beach. La Haute Addeville is situated in the heart of the US Airborne D-Day sector, just off the D913 road leading to Utah Beach with its wonderful D-Day museum, just beside the N13 Cherbourg-Paris highway, with easy access by road & rail. An ideal base from which to explore the nearby locations forever associated with the 'Screaming Eagles' of the 101st Airborne. Angoville-au-Plain, where stained glass windows & blood-stained pews in the local church immortalize the heroic lifesaving deeds of 501st PIR medics Kenneth Moore and Robert Wright. Just a few miles north lies Sainte Mère Eglise, with its effigy of John Steele suspended from the church tower & the superb US Airborne Museum. Several miles west is La Fière, scene of the 82nd Airborne Division's epic battle for control of the vital causeway, while all around numerous historical sites perpetuate the achievements of the 'All Americans.' The Pointe du Hoc, 'Bloody Omaha' Beach & the US American Normandy Cemetery are nearby.

We are regular visitors to Normandy in June. Because of our hobby of re-enacting/ WW 2 this is a very special place. June 2007 was the first time we had stayed at Les Droueries, it will not be the last! What a fantastic place, the gites are finished to a very high standard, and have everything you could possibly need. However, the thing that really made our holiday extra special was Richard and Caroline. Nothing was too much trouble, they always had a smile and always had time for a chat. We are really looking forward to our holiday there again this year, if you fancy Normandy for a holiday you have to stay here, there is nowhere better and you will not be disappointed.
