This property, just 100 mtrs from a sandy blue flag beach, is in an ideal location to enjoy water sports and the many local tavernas and restaurants of this charming harbour village. New in 2008 the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom villa benefits from a corner plot with a large wrap around balcony equipped for outdoor dining. The spacious 1st floor lounge/diner commands views of the sea, pool and mountains with balconies at the front and rear and is fitted out to a very high standard. At the centrepiece of this development there is a large communal pool with sun beds and the property also has a private roof terrace and rear garden offering privacy and seclusion. The house has an ideal village location with just minutes to walk to shops and tavernas and so very close to the sea. Located on the South East coast with a mountain backdrop Makrigialos benfits from some of the best weather on the island. The nearest towns of Ierapetra and Sitia both have bustling water fronts with cafes spilling out onto the promenades. Ierapetra, the nearest can be reached by car in 25 minutes and Sitia will take a little over 30 minutes. Both are also accessible by regular local buses. Sitia also has an airport but the island's main airport, Heraklion is a drive of around 1 hour 45 minutes. On the south coast of the island you benefit from seeing the sun both rise and set and, although there is still plenty to do, you escape the tourist bustle of the north and come closer to traditional Crete.

Brilliant family Holiday

We had a super family holday here, we thought the villa looked good on the website but it exceeded our expectation on arrival. The villa is spacious and well equipped and immaculately prepared for our arrival. The airconditioning provided a welcome respite from the heat at lunchtimes and at night. The children had hours of fun in the pool and down on the beaches which are an easy walk with lovely gently sloping sand. In the evening there are many excellent tavernas to chose from, with probably the best (Gabiano's), just 150meters away. We have already booked to go back next year!

It was perfect family vacation

It was our first experience of renting a villa and we are more than satisfied with our choice made. We were eager to have a calm, relaxing location/atmosphere, not crowded beach. If you want to have a relaxing vacation it is the ideal place to stay at. All accommodation facilities are well-maintained and organized. The villa is cosy, clean and just beautiful. We were with 3-year old kid and she was happy with the new place running around and telling - what a beauty! The most fascinating place for her was of course the swimming pool! The customer service was very polite, responding and helpful and friendly. The beach is perfect for small kids and for the whole family as well. All lunches we had at Gabiano's restaurant -delicious cuisine and very friendly service. Noon time we used to spend driving along surroundings by Sitia's direction and Heraklion. We have already recommended this place to our friends and colleagues. It was a pity for us to find out that a morning car passing by and saying something loudly was offering fresh fish. If we found out it earlier we would tried some for sure having bar-b-q area.

relaxing holiday in first class accommodation

Loved this villa, everything is immaculate and well furnished. The pool area is beautiful and well maintained. There are lovely beaches and lots of restaurants to choose from,some of which are down by the harbour, a short walk away. Two restaurants that we really enjoyed were an Italian called Gusto ( I think ), by the harbour with indoor and outdoor eating, they have some tables right by the water, also, the Dragons Cave, from where you will have stunning views of the whole bay. The village of Pefki is also worth a visit it is lovely. Makrigialos is very laid back and the local people are very friendly. There is a bar along the front street on the left called Gecco, this has a good atmosphere and you can sit by the sea. There is a music festival in and around the village in June, with different events over a few days, we thoroughly enjoyed it, there was something for everyone. , I would most certainly highly recommend this property and think that the whole area has lots to see and do. We are going out there again in a few weeks, can't wait...

Great break in lovely accommodation

Enjoyed a half term week's holiday staying in the villa, the accommodation is really well presented with great facilities. Makrygialos is a fairly quiet resort but for us that is what we wanted, with probably the best beach for swimming on the island. All the family had a great time.
