Self catering holiday rental in Ryde on the stunning Isle of Wight. This beautiful, contemporary, top floor, two bedroom apartment, in a Victorian grade 2 listed building, is situated close to Ryde Esplanade, marina and beautiful sandy beach, a short walk to one of the best beaches on the island, Appley sands. The apartment is also a short walk from the town shops and restaurants and the Hovercraft terminal. The hovercraft takes ten minutes to cross the Solent to the historic city of Portsmouth, with its maritime history, historic dockyard with Nelsons flagship The Victory and King Henry VIII's flagship the Mary Rose. The landmark Spinnaker Tower can be seen from the apartment. This self catering fully equipped holiday rental is supplied with luxury linen and towels. The main bedroom has a kingsize bed and very large en-suite bathroom, second bedroom with single bed and trundle bed, main bathroom, living/dining room, kitchen and private parking. The self catering apartment is situated in Ryde, on the North coast of the Isle of Wight, a 15 minute drive from the Wightlink cross Solent ferry terminal at Fishbourne, which crosses from Portsmouth and also a 10 minute walk from the Ryde Hovercraft terminal, which crosses to Southsea (Portsmouth) seafront. Yards from the sandy beach and a short walk to the glorious Appley sands. All the amenities of Ryde town are within walking distance, so if crossing by Hovercraft, a car is not needed but recommended if wanting to travel around the Island. Situated on The Strand and steps away from Ryde town Esplanade. The property has it's own private parking space. The apartment is very well situated for exploring all the attractions of the island. The famous Isle of Wight zoo with it's white tigers as seen on TV. The Needles, Cowes, Blackgang Chine for the children, beautiful Osbourne House , the retreat of Queen Victoria, The famous Isle of Wight glass factory where you can see glass blowing.

  • A £100 returnable damage deposit will be charged on top of the rental rates to cover any loss, damage or extra cleaning incurred during the stay. The apartment will be checked by the cleaner/owner on vacation and the full or part deposit returned within 7 days. Please note, to date, there have been no instances where any of the deposit has had to be retained.
  • The weekend night rate is classed as being Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the weekly night rate being Monday to Thursday

  • The en suite bathroom off the main bedroom is very large and about the size of a single bedroom! Fully equipped with shower over the bath and shower screen and has the lovely views again over Ryde town from large windows. There are two bath towels and a hand towel in this room. The second main bathroom is also large, with shower over the bath and shower screen and also has two bath towels and a hand towel for guest use. There is also small guest soaps and good quality hand wash liquid provided on each basin.

  • The main bedroom has a kingsize bed, with linen already in place. it is a large light and airy space with a small Juliet balcony off and there are lovely views over Ryde town and in to the distance. It has a very large en suite bathroom attached, with large windows and the same views over Ryde town and there are two bath towels and a hand towel provided. All the windows have venetian blinds and curtains (no curtains in bathroom, only blinds) The second bedroom has views over the Solent but there is limited space when the full underbed is pulled out to make two single beds. This bedroom is served by the main bathroom down the hallway and also has two bath towels and a hand towel provided.

Extra details: The apartment is fully equipped and has everything for an enjoyable, no worry holiday. The beds are already made up with quality linen. Bath towels and hand towels are supplied but you must bring your own beach towels. Small guest soaps are supplied. Tea towels and washing up liquid are supplied in the kitchen and the kitchen is fully equipped with cleaning products, iron and ironing board, washer/ dryer + an airer. The property is cleaned by the owner after each let and every attention is paid to detail, ready for the next let. There is a communal entrance to the apartments which is operated by secure entry phone. There is a free to air digital LCD TV and digital DAB radio/CD player. The apartment has fully passed fire inspection and has fire doors to all main rooms, smoke alarms, fire blanket and extinguisher are present. All electrical items have been PAT tested and the gas combi boiler and gas hob have passed the Landlords Gas Safety inspection for 2008

Repeat bookings, payment and arrival/dep times: The check in time is after 3pm on the day of arrival and departure by 10am on the day, to allow time for cleaning etc, unless otherwise arranged with the owner. Anyone who books and comes back to the apartment for a second stay will be treated to a 'welcome back' bottle of quality wine. Tea, coffee and a small milk, enough for four people, is supplied for that welcome first drink on arrival. A deposit of 25% will secure a booking which is non refundable if cancelled less than eight weeks before the start of the holiday, unless another booking is secured, then it will be returned. Full payment, along with the returnable damage deposit, is requested four weeks before the start of the holiday A discount could be offered to valued repeat customers at the discretion of the owner. Any special requests, within reason, could be catered for.

Golf: The nearest golf centre is about 3 miles away at the Westridge Golf Centre,Ryde. It is a pay as you play centre and is a family friendly facility designed to provide a challenge to both beginners and skilled players alike. The practice facilities are second to none with the Island's only flood lit driving range with expert advice on hand from 4 fully qualified P.G.A professionals. Modern, clean, comfortable apartment

We stayed for 3 nights in September following the Bestival. We found the flat to be spotlessly clean, very well decorated and furnished with every conceivable thing you'll need.
There were 2 bathrooms with plenty of hot water and a very comfortable double bed. The kitchen was small but had everything required. The lounge was very pleasant and only lacking an Ipod docking station. Take some DVD's/CDs with you as the kit is all there.
The flat is in a very good location, with views over the Solent from the front. You're 30 seconds from the nice sandy beach and promenade. Ryde is a nice little (hilly!) town with lots of independent shops as well as the usual names, with 2 supermarkets (Iceland and Somerfield) within walking distance of the flat. We ate at the Malaysian restaurant on the main street which was good and cheap; we would also recommend the Seaview Hotel (£5 in a taxi) for a posh meal (£100 for 2 people if you really go for it). Loads of choices for takeaway too. If you want a fishmonger you'll have to travel to other towns though, but you must try the dressed crab and lobsters during your visit. The pub behind the flat is a nice local and there are trendy wine bars within a 10 min walk.
We relived our childhood and went to the bowling and arcades which are just across the road and inexpensive (good wet weather option).
Ryde isn't central on the island but even the furthest point (the Needles) was only 50 minutes away by car and there's loads of places to stop at on the way. It is a nice town to stay in though.
Overall, really good value for money and much better than a hotel for the same money. Would definately recommend and revisit.
My only small quibble is the early check out time of 10am, would rather midday.

Excellent accomodation ,good location could not be faulted. Would gladly recommend this property to a friend or relative.
Enjoyed good meals at Libertys (Italian) and Cinamon (Indian) restuarants in Ryde.

A lovely stay

We stayed for a week here in August, and would thoroughly recommend it. It was very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean, and provided a comfortable base for visiting the Isle of Wight. You couldn't fault the location, just a couple of minutes walk from the beach, and lovely views across to Portsmouth from the flat. The directions were accurate and there were no problems with getting/returning keys etc. If we go back to the Isle of Wight, we'd definitely stay there again!

Would thoroughly recommend Sandlands

My wife and I plus our 7 year old daughter stayed for a week at Sandlands from 14/8/09 and had a very enoyable holiday. The apartment was spotless and as described, the off street parking very useful and time spent washing up at the kitchen sink almost became enjoyable due to the view over the sea! We hope to visit again 1 day.

Great holiday location

I have just returned from a week's holiday in this flat in Ryde. The property is well maintained, stylish with good facilities, quiet and extremely clean. Having two bathrooms, each with bath and over bath shower felt luxurious for two people. The location is ideal- within easy walking distance of the beautiful beach and the many facilities that Ryde has to offer. It is close to the bus terminus and well placed for touring the rest of the island. A good feature is the designated parking space that comes with the flat.

The owner provided very good customer service sending the keys exactly as promised and was prompt with the return of the security deposit. Reading the comments book in the flat it was apparent that the owner had read these comments too and had acted on appropriate suggestions.

I would recommend this property without hesitation. It is as well to be aware, though, that it is up several flights of stairs which were a challenge with a suitcase. This would make it unsuitable for some. However, if this is not an insurmountable problem you will be rewarded with views of the Solent and a really lovely appartment.
