Salcombe -family cottage situated ON South Sands Beach with stunning views.
The Crab Pot was originally a Look Out to watch for enemy approaching Salcombe Harbour. It was built on the rocks in the south corner of South Sands which is the most southerly bay in the Salcombe estuary. It is now a fabulous newly refurbished cottage with panoramic views up the estuary and out to sea. Two bedrooms - master bedroom has a five foot double bed and the second bedroom has been cleverly designed to allow three adult sized beds to fit in the unusually shaped room. The sitting room has a large picture window overlooking the beach and a brand new kitchen has been created in what was one of the original lime kilns. There is a washing machine, freezer, TV and wireless broadband. A small paved garden at the back of the cottage provides a private area to barbeque and is a perfect suntrap. Parking is available. Perfect for family holidays and all who enjoy all seaside activities. South Sands is a safe sandy beach and has been awarded the Blue Flag since 2005

Parking is limited, but there is a small car park. Walk up to Bolt Head beyond which the cliffs and headlands are owned by the National Trust and see the views into Salcombe and the walk along the coastal path is spectacular. Just along the coast and a short drive away there is an excellent golf course at Thurlestone. A visit to Plymouth (30 miles) is always interesting with its history of Francis Drake and maritime museum. Several hours can be spent in the market town of Totnes (18 miles) situated on the Dart River with its specialist craft shops and cafes. A visit to the naval base at Dartmouth makes another good day out. Quaint individual shops line the harbour wall.

Further details for the cottage in Devon, England
Salcombe is a beautiful seaside town in the most southern tip of Devon. The sheltered beaches and green South Hams hills form a perfect backdrop to the crescent shaped estuary which is brought to life with a huge variety of boats wending their way. Golden beaches are dotted all along both sides of the estuary which are perfect for family days on the beach. All are accessible by ferry or foot. Salcombe is known to have a “micro-climate” so visitors can enjoy glorious sunshine while just a few miles away the land is shrouded in mist.
It is a perfect holiday spot for all ages with safe sandy beaches for young children, all kinds of watersports for all ages including sailing, surfing, scuba diving amongst many others. There are also impressive walks along lovely coastal paths with stunning views. Walk from Bolt Head to Hope Cove along the coastal path with your dogs (beware the sheep!) or take the ferry across from Salcombe to East Portlemouth and walk to Gara Rock. Overbecks, the National Trust garden, at Bolt Head has some very interesting and unusual plants for the green fingered visitors. There is a great choice of restaurants and pubs where visitors can enjoy locally caught fish and shellfish. Fishing trips can be arranged as well as hire of sailing and pleasure boats. Salcombe, with its large sheltered bay, has become one of the main sailing centres in England. There is an excellent sailing school on South Sands beach which caters for all ages and the emphasis is on fun!
