A centrally located fully restored rental cottage in the medieval village of Limeuil with extensive views over the valley. Although it may look small from the outside it is in fact deceptively large and roomy inside. The cottage is on 3 levels. You enter into the spacious living and kitchen area. There is an open staircase leading upstairs to the en suite double bedroom and bathroom, with wonderful views via a Velux window across the Vézère and Dordogne valley. The second bedroom, with en suite shower room is on the lower level, with more limited views of the valley. The cottage has wonderful exposed stonework and ancient oak beams and other interesting original features dating back several centuries. There is a good sized wisteria-covered sunny terrace with table and chairs for up to 6 people. Down below the property is a small rather rough terraced garden with some fruit trees, which is accessed by very steep steps and serves to give privacy, as opposed to usable garden space.

Our cottage is set in the delightful village of Limeuil, which is one of the listed most beautiful villages in France, and enjoys delightful views over the confluence of the Vézère and Dordogne rivers. Limeuil is a thriving village with 2 restaurants, a café/bar and the old fashioned bakery. River swimming and canoeing are available at the bottom of the hill. An excellent horse riding stables are 5 minutes drive away. Limeuil is within easy driving distance of the major sites of the Perigord. Lascaux is but 35 minutes away, Les Eyzies, with its wonderful National Museum of Prehistory 15 minutes. The major tourist towns of Sarlat, Perigueux and the medieval jewel of Sarlat are all within a 45 minute drive. In short, Limeuil is a wonderfully situated place to guarantee you an excellent base for your holiday.

We have just returned from Limeuil which is a delightful little village on the hillside. Local restaurants within walking distance of the village house and Le Bon Accueil especially good! We ate there 4 nights out of 7. House is spacious and very well fitted out with plenty dishes, cutlery etc, t.v. satelite and very clean. Lovely views from the terrace and we were visited by the owner who was very helpful. Very well placed for exploring the region of Perigord and beyond..

Haus in schönem Dorf

Kleines, aber innen überraschend geräumiges Haus mitten im schönen Dorf Limeuil, dennoch ganz abgeschlossen. Drei Etagen, in der mittleren, in die man von außen hereintritt, sind Wohnzimmer und Küche/Eßtisch, in der oberen Etage Doppelbett, in der unteren Doppelbett und Einzelbett, oben Bad/WC, unten Dusche/WC. Sehr sauber und die Küche bemerkenswert gut ausgestattet (Besitzer weiß, was man zum Kochen braucht!).
Besitzer sehr freundlich und unkompliziert. Sehr gutes, von zwei jungen Engländern geführtes Restaurant (L'Artichaud) im Nebenhaus, Au Bon Acceuil 50 m entfernt. Dorf gut besucht, aber wenig Autoverkehr, sehr ruhig. Vom Freisitz und der oberen Etage schöner Blick über Vézère und Dordogne. Viel anzuschauen und zur sportlichen Betätigung (z. B. Wandern, Kanu, Reiten, Golf) in der unmittelbaren Umgebung. Nächste größere Stadt (Le Bugue) ca. 6 km entfernt.
Fazit: Ein Haus, in dem wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt haben.
