Five bedrooms and five baths ensuite on two levels w/views (one in top of 9th century tower with fireplace), sleeps 10+2. Soaring two story ceiling in dining and living room with chandeliers and windows with panoramic view. Large handmade dining table with 11th C.benches seats 14. Within the two story arch is fully equipped gourmet kitchen with antique cooking fireplace. Up the stairs is the tower bedroom with its beautiful historic arrow slit windows and panoramic view; also upstairs is the grand library with handmade wrought iron balcony overlooking the open dining and living area. A beautifully restored villa with a very special history as an ancient glass factory. It is situated in a quaint village which makes you feel a part of the culture. The accomodations give a sense of the old atmosphere and yet with all modern conveniences. The property is very well maintained and the service is delightful and always helpful.
With a car, one can visit all the attractions both in Umbria and in Tuscany. Staying one week was not enough and we look forward to coming back another time.

A piece of Italian heaven

My family and I stayed in the Villa unit... amazing! Gorgeous, spacious, historic... all in the quaint town of Piegaro (lovely people and restuarants). We also loved the pool... what a lovely addition. We used it daily. One night, 3 generations of Italian women came into our Villa kitchen and gave us an authentic italian cooking lesson! So fun... and delicious!

Perfect Place to Stay!

I want to go back!!! If that does not sum up a perfect stay, I don't know what can! L'Antica Vetreria is perfect - it offers the "old world" of a historical glass factory with the old stone fireplaces and walls in this beautiful apartment villa in a wonderful small village, with "new world" conveniences of a full granite kitchen, modern bathroom with hairdryers that really dry, and comfortable beds with wonderful linens. Colleen and Tom make every effort to make your stay comfortable and memorable. The village of Piegaro offers several restaurants, a butcher, a market - whatever you need within seconds of your door which makes it wonderful for you to be able to walk to dinner and gelato. It is also conveniently located near Chiusi (10-15 minute drive), where you can catch the train if you don't want to drive into other major cities. Piegaro is in a very convenient location to visit the many villages of Tuscany and Umbria.
My daughters and I had the trip of a lifetime! We felt completely at home and found we could ask for help about anything, which is such a special thing to find when traveling.
The kitchen is fully equipped, which we enjoyed using when we came in from a long day touring the countryside. The rooms to the apartment are quite large and spacious, and the pool and terrace are a wonderful place to unwind after a long day of travel.
Be sure to visit the original glass factory, and ask for a tour of the new one. Watching the process of making all the many bottles is amazing! Don't miss learning how to make Pici Pasta!! A hightlight of our trip was our pasta party with Tom and Colleen. We have even brought that tradition home and shared it with our friends and family. It is a place for a honeymoon, a family reunion, a special celebration - or just a place to get away from everything. It offers the comforts of home in a place that is more beautiful than you can imagine. I hope you can travel there and share all the wonderful experiences we had.
