Two luxury single storey barn conversions, close to the medieval walled city of York, in the viking area of Yorkshire called the East Riding.Situated in a peacful rural setting, with fantastic sunsets and starry nights, this makes for a special escape, a perfect place for romantic breaks or to explore from. Nearby you can sit by the river Derwent and sup real ale at the 'Ferryboat Inn', and watch the wildlife at 'Wheldrake Ings' (Engilsh Nature SSI) .Enjoy great food at the renowned 'St, Vincents Inn' or just sit in your own private garden listening to skylarks or watching lapwings and barn owls.This a country retreat off the beaten track but with excellent road links, close to all the attractions in and near York:Yorkshire Dales-Moors-Coast, Harrogate, Castle Howard, Beningbrough Hall, RHS - Harlow Carr Gardens, Harewood House, Historic Abbeys, and not forgetting the York National Railway Museum.

Curlew Cottage: A single storey barn conversion(1850), which can cater for 2 to 4 people. The cottage is light and airy,with a good ambience. It is cosy and comfortable with everything you need. All the furniture is a good quality and new. It has a double bedroom (which can be a king or two single beds). In the living room is a large double sofa bed log burning stove and oriental carpet. The delightful bathroom has a bath with overhead shower and underfloor heating. The open plan kitchen /living /diner has original exposed beams and with French windows looking onto the patio and garden. The views from the cottage look east across the gardens and open farmland towards the Yorkshire Wolds.It catches the morning sun so you can breakfast alfresco and listen to the bird song. Bed and Breakfast available in the farmhouse.

Very clean ansd welcoming cottage. Beautiful grounds with the company of delightfully behaved farm dogs , chickens and baby chicks.
Well situated for accessing various local amenities. Situated just outside a lovely Yorkshire village.
A friendly, helpful and generous hostess.
This review applies equally to Celandine cottage next door.
Would love to return in the cold weather so as to be able to use the wood burnign stove

Our Stay at Curlew Cottage

We had a very relaxing 5 night stay at Curlew cottage. The owner Judy was very welcoming and extremely helpful on what was our first visit to the area of York,

The cottage is very comfortable and has been recently finished to a very high standard. The gardens are well kept and were in almost full bloom during our stay. The patio area is ideal for relaxing after a long day.

The city of York has much to offer and even with 6 days we were unable to see/do everything that we wanted. We will definately return again soon for another stay.

Our house was suffering from subsidence!! We had to move out for 6-8 weeks Judy came to the rescue and suggested we stay in one of her cottages. What a delight-lovely rural situation far enogh away from the crowd near enough to York for easy access. Judy couldnt do enough for us to ensure our stay was comfortable. We had a great time there-in the end we stayed fo over 20 weeks!!! Builders huh! We were really sad to leave such a cosy comforable place that had become our home.

Our stay at Curlew Cottage

This is a lovely cottage in a very nice location.

There are nice walks around the cottage.

The cottage felt very cosy with a real fire and well equipped kitchen.

York is easily accessible by car from the cottage.
