Cortijo Romo is a rustic 2 bedroomed semi-detached cottage with open plan living/dining/kitchen space and fully tiled bathroom, Set in 3000sq mtrs of fenced and gated land, with almond,olive and nispero trees.The rural location, surrounded by almond and olive groves, provides peaceful and relaxing surroundings, with stunning mountain views, yet is an easy drive to local amenities. The cottage has a private 8x4 pool with sun terrace, a terrace with BBQ, tables and chairs, a garden area with seating, and private parking. Chill out with a glass of wine, hear the tinkle of goat bells on the mountain and relax. When all that relaxing gets too much, local villages Colmenar and Riogordo are 15/20 minutes away. Here you will find supermarkets, other shops, banks, pharmacies, and a small number of restaurants, and in Colmenar, a 24 hour medical centre. Good day trips include Antequera 40 minutes, Malaga city 40 minutes, Ronda 70minutes or Granada 90 minutes

Cortijo Romo is on the outskirts of the hamlet of El Romo,in the heart of the Axarquia region, between the villages of Comares, Colmenar and Riogordo. All have small supermarkets, shops and banks. A large shopping mall at Velez Malaga,is just 30 minutes away by car. Comares is well worth a visit, as being the highest village in the Axarquia region, the views from there are breathtaking. The coast and beach at Torre del Mar is 35 minutes away by car, and has a gently sloping beach, long promenade and many fish restaurants. Lake Vinuela is 25 minutes away, and there are some good restaurants, including 2 curry houses, and a fish and chip cafe ( if you must !) You can also visit Antequera ( 40 minutes ), Malaga city ( 40 minutes ) or Granada ( 90 minutes ). Local activities include horse riding, swimming, walking, cycling, quad biking, and there is a Water Park at Velez Malaga, and a Wolf Park at Antequera. Lovely walks in the Natural Parks of Sierra Almijara, Tejeda and Torcal.

Notes: The 'cortijo' is rustic with modern facilities. It was until recently, our own home, and retains a homely feel with some individual touches.It adjoins our own 'cortijo', but is private with its own entrance. The outside area has a south facing private 8 x 4 pool and sun terrace with pool furniture for 4 people. There is a large south west facing terrace with stone built BBQ, table and chairs for 4, stone built bench and out door sink. There is a garden area with seating for 4. Private secure parking. We provide bedlinen and bath and hand towels, but not beach or poolside towels. A welcome pack with some basic essentials to get you through the first 24 hours, and a Beach pack with portable chairs, parasol, beach rug and cool bags. Mosquito screens to the windows. The property is strictly NO SMOKING inside and out.

Local Area: The cortijo is in a rural, mountainous yet very accessible location. If you want a peaceful, relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle, in ' real Spain ' , then you will love it. If having bars, restaurants and shops right on the doorstep is important to you, then the cortijo and it's location is not for you. Please bear this in mind when considering booking.

Picturesque, peaceful and stress-busting holiday.

Cortijo Romo provides an excellent opportunity to really get away from it all and unwind. After visiting the cortijo for the first time last summer, we were in no doubt that it was where we wanted to spend this year's holiday. We have recently returned from our second visit which was as tranquil and restful as the first. The location of the cortijo is beautiful, with the gorgeous pool seeming to hang at the edge of the hillside overlooking olive groves, with the picturesque village of Comares in the distance. The privacy and peacefulness are priceless. The pool is beautiful, with good quality loungers, and a gorgeous alfresco dining area. We loved cooking on the large barbeque most evenings. The bedrooms are a good size with quality bed linen. Our hosts Teri and Nigel, were on hand if we needed anything, but are very respectful of their guests privacy. There are quality restaurants and shopping facilities within 15 to 30 minutes drive away, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We also enjoyed a second visit to the Alhambra in Granada, an hour's drive which is excellently signposted. However, the cortijo is so lovely, we were happy to spend most of our time there. The cortijo successfully combines quality with simplicity. We would highly recommend Cortijo Romo for an excellent holiday experience and antedote to the normal stresses of work. Our family holiday was better than we could have possibly expected. The cortijo is furnished and equipped excellently...combine this with the superb pool, excellent weather in August when we went and the breathtaking surroundings the challenge is to remain focused on anything other than relaxing...it's impossible not to!
The area is so quiet and is like stepping back in time.
The owners live in the adjoining property and are usually around to help out with any issues and the welcome pack was excellent. They have mastered the art of being available for asking about shops etc but keep very much out of the way thus allowing us to relax and enjoy our holiday as a family...with the pool to ourselves!
The absolute ideal getaway!
Thoroughly recommended!
