Sun beach is 200 metres from the beach, and is a very child-friendly place. Selwo safari park is only 5 minutes' drive away. there are riding stables nearby, and the Mijas Aquapark and Tivoli World are both 40 minutes away. Tarifa, Europe's top windsurfing location, is only half an hour's drive, and just beyond there you will find Bolonia, the site of a well-preserved Roman city. From Tarifa you can also take the fast ferry (30 minutes) to Tangier, if you would like to spend a day in Africa. Visas are not required for Brits.
Behind the coast there are beautiful 'White Villages' and spectacular mountain scenery. Estepona is a bustling town with good shopping , restaurants, bars etcetera, and Sun Beach is surrounded with golf courses. This stretch of the coast is known as the new Golden Mile, and has more 5-star hotels than Marbella.
There are many golf courses close to Sun Beach, some only 5 or ten minutes' drive. The world-famous Valderama course is around 25 minutes' drive. In the winter, skiing is 2 hours' drive away in Sierra Nevada. A skiing day day trip, followed by dinner back on the coast, is quite feasible.
The Costa del Sol has the sunniest climate in Europe, and is the number 1 holiday destination for British holidaymakers. There are many towns and villages to visit, and the beach facilities are second to none.
