Situated in a rural setting with wonderful views, only 2 kms from the unspoilt village of St Pompon, 30 minutes drive from Sarlat, Villa Sonia is a recently renovated property featuring 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, and has magnificent views. Enormous open plan living/dining room - 3 sofas, stereo, DVD, tv, large dining table. Modern open plan kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, mixer. Double bedroom with ensuite shower room with wc. 1st Floor - Large double room with twin beds that can be either joined to form large double, or separated to form twin. ensuite shower with twin basins, wc. Villa Sonia is peaceful yet not remote, situated near the famous town of Sarlat, just above the village of St Pompon full of lcoal charm and character. St Pompon bosts its Friday morning produce market, and Saturday evening food fair, where you can sample a selection of local dishes in the village atmosphere. Bar, baker, chemist, tabac, supermarket, butcher, restauarants, post office all at St Pompon. All amenities are close by, including - 18 hole Siorac Golfe course, Dordogne river, the pretty market town of St Cyprien, les Eyzies famous for it's caves 30 minutes. Bergerac and the wine region 1 hour.     There is an 80 Euro cleaning charge to be paid to the key holder on arrival. This is to cover a general clean of the house and the laundering of the linen. The villa must be left tidy, rubbish removed.
    Security deposit of 300 Euros is payable on arrival. This will be returned on departure, and is to cover any damages.

A wonderful holiday at Villa Sonia near Sarlat

The property is in a wonderful location. The photos don't do it justice. Evenings having a quiet drink on the terrace were perfect, views just beautiful. The location of the house was ideal, quiet, peaceful, yet only a short drive to nearly everything. Sarlat was interesting, and after the bustle of Saturday market it was a pleasure to return to the peace and quiet of the villa. As a keen cook, I was happily surprised with the kitchen. For a holdiay property, it was really well equipped. My daughter enjoyed the swimming pool, and my son made good use of the gas bbq.

Best holiday in France

Terrific place for a family or group holiday.Eating out in the sun or shade, lazing by the pool, or visiting the historic towns nearby. Perfect setup inside of quiet bedrooms all with ensuites and large living and dinning area, not to mention the large terrace and table. We hope to go back soon with a different group of friends.

Wonderful holiday in France

We had a fantastic week at the villa. It has everything you could possibly need, from a well equipped kitchen, to the fantastic pool. The standard of accommodation is excellent and all done to a very high standard.

The local area is gorgeous (when you can drag yourself from the villa) and there is plenty to do for couples and families alike. Make sure you visit Domme and Sarlat.
The local village is stunning and they were very friendly and the local bar is superb.
Christian was very helpful and we will return and recommend this place to everyone we see!

fantastic family holiday

We stayed at villa Sonia in September, and had a great family holiday. The property was exactly as described, and the caretaker, Christian, who met us on the Saturday was so helpful. The local village was a real delight, especially the Friday morning market, and the locals so friendly.
The house was spacious and spotlessly clean. Great for the kids and parents, as each bedroom had it`s own bathroom. Even though we had to leave very early on the Saturday morning, Christian was there to see us off, and return our deposit.
Lovely property in a lovely area. We will definitely be back!

Family Holiday

My family rented this property this summer for a 14 night family holiday. On arrival at the property we found the living area to be unclean despite the 80 Euro cleaning fee we paid on arrival, the bedrooms and bathrooms were fine. Whilst the location of the property was as described, the pool area was not fit for children or the infirm. There are wooden crates which have been laid around the pool and nailed down making it dificult to access the pool without catching your feet. There are also a number of steep stairs leading down from the terrace to the pool area and the drive way is slippy due to being covered by lots of loose rocks and stones - the description of the property fails to mention any of this and you can not see the stairs on the photographs. On leaving the property we had difficulty contacting the owner to obtain our 300 Euro deposit back, as a result we had to leave the property without the deposit and have since been unable to obtain a refund.

Owner's Response: These clients were met on arrival by our caretakers, and shown over the property, garden and pool area. They did not complain on arrival, and seemed happy with the property, it's situation, and cleanliness. The trouble started when our caretakers reported to us that there were 12 people staying at the property. Our description and contract clearly state maximum of 9 people. The client was put on notice that they were in breach of the contract. The client chose to ignore this warning. The caretakers again reported to us, that when they went to the villa to clean the pool, there were still 12 people at the property. At this stage we e-mailed the client a second time warning them that the security deposit would be witheld if they persisted in over occupying the property. They still ignored us. We had no choice but to withold the deposit, and the client was made aware of this. On their departure, it was found that the septic tank was blocked, bbq broken, linen cupboard broken into. The 300 € did not cover the damages done.
We went to the trouble of organizing an areal photo of the villa so prospective clients can clearly see the lay out of the villa including the 3 steps from terrace to pool, and the gravel drive way.
Luckily this is the only bad experience we have had so far in renting our property. Normally the clients we have welcomed at our villa have been pleasant, and respectful of our villa, and have enjoyed their stay.
