Dar Doughri is a recently restored and traditionally decorated town house/villa/riad offering self-catering family & group accommodation close to Beach, Medina, Restaurants, Swimming Pools. There is plenty of room both inside and out away from the hustle and bustle of the Souks and Beach. On the first floor is the generously proportioned double/family room, with ensuite bathroom and a twin room with private bathroom. The second floor opens onto the full equipped for self-catering kitchen/breakfast room and a generous Moroccan salon with traditional seating and an open fireplace. The large windows give panoramic views of the local area and ensure that plenty of light bathes the villa/riad. The master bedroom with private bathroom share the same wonderful views on this floor. The third floor has a private twin room and en-suite bathroom that look out onto the private terrace with views of the medina and local area. The terrace has a pergola, outdoor seating/eating area, and barbecue.

Dar Doughri is a short walk through Bab Marakesh for entry into the ancient Medina (walled town) - see pics. The town house/villa/riad is equipped for self catering and there are plenty and fruit, vegetables, meats, spices and fresh fish to purchase but restaurants along the beach or in the Medina also offer a variety of Moroccan, French and Italian cuisine. In the souks you will find hidden gems in leather, silver, and ceramics and there are no motorised vehicles allowed inside the Medina, which gives it a very hassle free atmosphere. There are a number of banks, bakers, village shops and pharmacies a short walk from Dar Doughri. Hotel swimming pools in the town are open to non residents. The Portuguese ramparts and a small working fishing port provide plenty of sites to explore. Family/adventure activities locally include camel riding, dune buggies, trekking, surfing, swimming, tennis, sailing, cycling, fishing, horse riding, wind-surfing, mountain biking.

A maid service is included and our local, English speaking, guardian will be available to help you plan your activities or in case of an emergency.
  • A £100 deposit required which will be returned to you within two weeks from the end of your stay.

Families with children of all ages welcome. We have a high chair, Chicco travel cot, and stair gate available for younger children. There is a washing machine and air dryer and pegs located on the top floor. You will also find plenty of space on roof terrace for storing wetsuits, surf boards and other sporting equipment. A local supermarket and pharmacy are nearby for necessities. We have a local, English speaking, guardian who will answer any questions, guide you to the local areas and help you with booking activities. He is also available in an emergency.

We had a fabulous stay in Dar Doughri. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable and we enjoyed taking in the huge views of Essaouira from the roof terrace. Great for sunbathing too as it is not over-looked! Every adventure we had was only a short walk away - it was lovely not to have to use a car to get around. The local pools were a bit chilly and a wetsuit is definatley needed at this time of year in the sea but we had some great beach walks to the camels. There are too many restaurants to list but the information file at the Dar gave us great ideas for a differant taste bud experience every night. Cant wait to visit again.

If you would rather sunbathe all day on our terrace and not have a day off from the markets then please ask our housekeeper, Karima to cook delicious traditional dishes for lunch or dinner such as a tagine with produce fresh from the souks and she can also rustle you up a delicious continental breakfast on the terrace.
