Lorien cottage stands on the edge of Duror village. Bright and spacious, It features three bedrooms (2 x twin and 1 x double). There is a large living room with French windows leading to the garden, a reception area, a spacious kitchen, upstairs bathroom and downstairs shower room. There is attractive modern wooden flooring throughout. The house has full electric central heating and is double glazed.There is also a log fire. The house has a beautiful, large, leafy, enclosed garden and there is on site parking for up to four cars. The village itself has a shop/post office and hotel restaurant/bar within walking distance. In addition there is a seafood restaurant overlooking the Loch, less than a mile away. Facilities include: Full Satellite TV with over 200 channels, DVD and CD player, Electric Cooker, Fridge, Freezer, Microwave, Washer/Drier, Ironing Facilities, Telephone (incoming calls). Electricity and heating and linen included in cost. Pets welcome by arrangement.

Cuil Bay, a lovely sand and shingle beach (ideal for watersports and swimming) is less than one mile away and the seaside town of Oban with all its facilities (including boat trips to the Scottish Islands) is just 20 miles to the south. Skiing: The area has excellent skiing in winter. The Glencoe Ski Centre is just seven miles away, while the town of Fort William, Britain’s highest mountain ‘Ben Nevis’ and the Nevis Ski Centre (dry slope in summer) are just 16 miles to the north. Ski and Snowboard equipment is available to hire at both of these centres. Lessons are also available for beginners.

Golf: The area has some beautiful golf courses. There is a spectacular 9 Hole golf course, with views right across the Lochs less than 5 miles away at Ballachulish. There are also 18 hold golf courses at Fort William and Oban.

Other Activities: rock and ice climbing centre, seal and sea life centre, canoeing, white water rafting.

Lovely cottage in beautiful countryside

We've stayed several times in this lovely property and will certainly be back for more. Warm, cosy and comfortable with amazing views - I will never forget waking up on our first morning here and seeing clouds on the mountain through the picture window on the upstairs hallway. It was like being in an aeroplane! The garden is an added bonus, always full of birdsong, and when the sun comes out the patio is a great place to sit. At the right time of year you can also help yourself to blackcurrants. Ideally located, an easy drive to beach, skiing and some great walks. Walking distance to a great restaurant (The Holly Tree), and a quick drive to shops, and yet you're right in the heart of some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK. Stay here - you definitely won't be disappointed!

Hi,

We stayed at Lorien for two years running.

Had a great time, there's lots to do, mountain biking in the forests nearby, fishing in the loch and just chilling out on the nearby beach.

The house is well looked after and has everything you require, just like being at home; especially when you can take your dog.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway

Excellent place for a full family holiday

First of all thanks to the owner for such service prior to getting to the place, really helpfull and accurate. When we got there we found the place really well maintained, and cared for. The location is excellent if you have own transport because everything is not more than two hours drive away (places of interest like Loch Ness, Inverrary prison museum, marine life sanctuary and etc.). Since we went there winter time, great location for a skiing holiday though please check the weather before you go since the snow is not allways there to ski on. But never the less there is enough to do there without skiing. There is plenty of local pubs and restaurants to gout out and have something to eat or drink if you would want. Definatly it was not the last time i visit the Highlands of Scotland and would recomend it to anyone who loves to have a great rest without having to leave the country.

Family had a brilliant time

We've just back from our trip and feel the need to post a quick review! The house itself was lovely- inside and had all the facilities you would expect and the garden is kept immaculately. Our little ones (age 5 and 7) won't be
parted from their two dogs, so it was refreshing to find out the owners were happy to allow pets to come along free of charge..

Was wonderful being able to look out of the window onto an amazing view (and see sheep happily munching away opposite the house). Much of our stay there was spent walking around taking in all the lovely scenery - beach, mountains and countryside all in the same place!

You really need a car to get around, but once mobile there are lots of things to do within a half hour's drive. We took the children to the sealife centre, which was a fun day out, although we did have to explain to the youngest that, no, she couldn't take a seal home with her!

Had a sightseeing trip to Ben Nevis and snapped a lot of pictures (hurrah for cheap memory cards) and popped into the Ben Nevis Inn on the way back - great food and really friendly staff. We didn't get to the ski centre this time, but that's on
our list for a later visit.

Overall, fantastic way to escape for a week. Definitely recommended!
