Vincennes holiday apartment: Vincennes

We had a great time staying in this apartment and really liked what Vincennes had to offer. It was easy to get in and out of Paris on the Metro from Berault (100 metres from the door of the apartment). We felt there was benefit in being out of the city in a quieter location! There was plenty of choice of local restaurants - we went to the Italian one twice - and we loved the huge park behind the castle where we spent our first day! {this park is a great place for picnics, jogging, cycling or just relaxing - the flowers are lovely and overall it is huge}.

The apartment offers comfortable accommodation (we were 4) the squeeky floorboards are interesting but facilities are good and we self catered 3 or 4 times with success. There are several local supermarkets, corner type shops and at least 4 Boulangeries within easy walking distance.

This is a clean well-equipped apartment which is in a good situation. Although it is on a major road (Ave de Paris) it was quiet and with the Berault metro station only a couple of minutes walk away transport into the centre of Paris was easy and you get a seat travelling in, at least. A major plus was having real shops within 200 yards of the apartment - baker, butcher, greengrocer so eating in was easy using the good kitchen facilities, Also a number of brasseries are very close although we only ate at the creperie across the road which was good. It had one double bed and the second bedroom had two single beds. Our third teenager slept on the sofa bed in the lounge. Getting in and out of the apartment all worked as described and we had good email communications with Parisdisiac. (We had to accept this apartment instead of one originally chosen some 5 weeks before departure. In the end we probably did better with this one since it was good value for money and we enjoyed the location.) It has creaky floorboards and the owners are keen that you don't disturb the neighbours. The water was very hot! The lift is very small and really only suitable for one at a time not 3 people and if you jump in it (as my son did) it jams! Fortunately the neighbours were very helpful in summoning assistance and they were released within 45 minutes!
