a villa in two worlds!!

The villa is as beautiful as the photos suggest. It was the best of both worlds, really quiet in the middle of a village surrounded by farmland but within a short drive of a lovely lagoon and practically private beach, or the slightly busier towns nearby.
8 minutes walk away is the village wine makers, go there some days and it will just be you, another day the Mayor and the entire village might be in attendance!
Take a torch if you are going to walk back in the evening from the vinery.
If you want cosy evenings in, take some dvds or cds, the music system is fab. No sky tv as such so dvds would be a good idea.
If you arrive on a Sunday the nearby supermarkets wont be open, but a quick drive to Argostoli and you have fruit and veg markets and the green painted supermarket near to the bus station is excellent, meat and olives to dream of.
Some evenings the shepherd drives the goats down just past the bottom of the garden and they munch on trees nearby, the perfume of the leaves being crunched is wonderful. Jim and Denise the owners were so helpful with all their tips and didnt mind how many times we emailed them with questions. You must have a car though, we used Express and they were so quick and efficient, recommended by Jim and Denise, and take binoculars with you as there is a wonderful buzzard that soars around nearby. We tried the Sorrento restaurant, forget the menu, the lady just takes you to the kitchen and shows you whats cooking that night - we had fried saltfish and garlic potatoes (garlic stayed with me for about 2 days!) and stewed beef which was really tender. Basic, but proper Greek cuisine. In Sami we went to the Dolphin which was nice too. Best restaurant was at the entrance to the castle, Greek chap and English lady run it, best desserts ever tasted. Fresh baked baguettes and Prawn Salad that was absolutely piled high.
Great Holiday, nice and relaxing, we only had 1 1/2 days of sunshine but still found plenty to do. Get a guide book and plan out your itinerary. Happy holidays.
