Idyllic self-catering property in the heart of rural Normandy. Ideal for a relaxing, 'get away from it all' break. Boasting an outside swimming pool, bicycles for hire and comfortable, peaceful surroundings a relaxing holiday is there to be had. Just an hour from the scene of the d-day landings and the same distance from the Bayeaux tapestry, history buffs will be well provided for. If it's exercise that you want there are loads of places to walk and you can hire bikes from us if you wish to go further afield. There is even a cider farm nearby that offers guided tours and the chance to experience the produce of the farm.

3 hundred year old 2 bedroom house sleeps up to six. Large double bedroom and medium sized twin rooms on the first floor with a bathroom. Ground floor boasts a large sitting room with tv, digi-box and dvd player. There is a well equipped kitchen with seating for up to 8. The kitchen also has a dish-washer, washing machine, microwave, gas oven, toaster.

Swimming Pool: There is a 10m * 4.5m swimming pool available to guests. Sun beds are provided as well as seated areas for eating meals. The pool is available until 20:00 each day.

Local places of Interest: Carrouges Châteaux is less than 4 miles away and is well worth a visit. There is a cider farm less than two miles away that caters for visitors supplying samples of the product in the process. The D-day beaches are less than an hour away, there are also many museums and memorials.

Restaurants: There are many fine restaurants in the area (none walkable) many of which provide cheap lunches (around 10 Euros for a four course meal) and some splendid fixed price options from 12 Euros up to 50 Euros. We've gone out of our way to sample the food at these establishments and we're yet to be disappointed.

Our holiday at the Cottage, La Drutiere

We had a wonderful stay in the Cottage. It provided a welcoming and safe environment for our young children, having loads of space on two levels. It was very comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing holiday and full of the French character we craved! The gardens were fantastic for a game of hide and seek, sunbathing or a dip in the pool, reading in a shady corner or running around, letting off steam! Views of the surrounding fields and hills, incredible sunsets and starry skies made for an idyllic holiday setting.
There was plenty to do in the immediate area too. Favourite places were Alencon, the lakes and play areas of La Ferte Mace and Sille le Guillaume, le Haras du Pin and the chateau at Carrouges. We really had the best of both worlds - a relaxing haven at La Drutiere and plenty to discover in and around Normandy. The girls loved it. We loved it. Definitely one to revisit!

Idyllic Normandy

We stayed here last August. Despite the weather we had a wonderful holiday. The hosts were welcoming & friendly and we wanted for nothing during our stay.

On the not so summery days we lit the real log fire and were happy to chill but were equally keen to get into the pool on the warmer days.

The area is peacful & perfect for sightseing and the local town has just enough to temp you to to live off wine, baguettes & cheese. Well, when in Rome!

We can especially recommend a visit to the Chateau Vendeuvre about 40 minutes away.

Highly recommended.

A tardis! wonderful cottage

I stayed here for a week in August last year the cottage was delightful large lounge , big open fire, good size sociable kitchen with large dining area. Very clean and had everything we could possibly need . It was located on a beautiful spot. The hosts were delightful ,friendly but not too intrusive just right. My parents who haven't travelled much loved France and this area particularly we all had wished that we had booked a extra week.The surronding towns and locations were gorgeous and easy access to all the tourist /historical areas without to much driving. The drive from Calais was easy. Would definitely recommend and would love to go back very chilled week!
