A secluded hideaway with the beach on your doorstep on the beautiful Lamu Island
Designed in the Swahili style and furnished with stunning items from around the world, Kusini House offers visitors the height of luxury and style. The main house has two large verandas; the ground level overlooking the pool and the top level giving you uninterrupted views of the sea and the sunset. On the ground floor there is a spacious en-suite guest room with twin beds, a snug library room and a generous entrance hall giving onto the pool. On the second floor, you will find the breath-taking master bedroom wing, en-suite bathrooms, two private balconies and the dinning area sitting 12. At the far end of the house, still within the walled garden, there are two separate en-suite guest bedrooms with their own private verandas. And finally the frangipani-studded walled garden framing the swimming pool, which forms the heart of the Kusini experience. With its five full-time staff incl. a cook, a boatman and a masseuse, Kusini is the perfect place to discover a new level of relaxation.

Lamu Town, which is a 20 minutes boat ride from Kizingoni Beach, is among the most well preserved settlements in the Swahili World. It retains intact, not just its built fabric of impressive traditional mansions responsive of time and climate, but also the culture of its people who are predominantly seasoned Muslims amicably accommodating visitors and settlers even of different cultures and beliefs. Its picturesque narrow streets aligned according to the local climate and its spectacular houses suited to both the climate and Swahili life, rate Lamu as one of the most antique yet authentic living cities in the Swahili Coast and, arguably, the world. These inherent values and its almost undisturbed authenticity, made it possible for Lamu to be declared a World (Cultural) Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001.
