Villa Athina (completed 5/2008) is a stone built villa situated on a hill overlooking the traditional village of Gavalohori, 25km east of Chania Crete. Its unique architectural style is combined with modern facilities in order to provide an ideal environment for your comfort and relaxation. Villa Athina is completely autonomous with 300 m2 of living space on a 1000 m2 plot of land. It offers complete privacy with its own parking space for two vehicles, private garden and pool (pool is not overlooked). The villa can accommodate up to 9 persons. The villa is set among olive groves in the east side of Gavalohori 100 m from the village square where stores can be found. It offers a beautiful view of the White Mountains. Villa Athina is ideal for couples or families who wish to have luxurious accommodations within a quiet village setting with easy access to ocean (3km to Almirida, 10km to Georgoupolis) and very good night life (5km to Kalives and 30km to Chania).

Gavalohori is a traditional Cretan village situated in the Apokorona region about 3km inland from the coastal village of Almirida. Gavalohori is an old historical village with approximately 500 residents. It is a typical Cretan village with a small square where a coffee shop, a bakery, a mini mart, two tavernas and other convenient stores can be found. Several narrow streets branch off its centre and one could wander through several interesting sections of this officially protected village. Stone built houses with lovely backyards full of colourful flowers can be found. A lot of interesting buildings can be seen, such as the 18th century two room, arched olive oil press, the temples of Panagia and Agios Sergios, the old school, and the historical folk art museum. Within a short distance (5km) from tranquil Gavalohori one can drive to Almirida, a picturesque coastal village. You may dine there in one of several seaside tavernas or relax sipping your drink by a bar during sunset.

Visited crete in late may for two weeks and stayed at villa Athina with my husband. The villa nor the service did not disappoint in any way.Immaculate, very spacious and with excellent layout.Our 7th visit to Crete in six years and our best, the local village and the residents made us fall back in love with Crete the way it did 20 years ago when we lived and met there.would highly recommend eating out locally, beautiful tavernas in village,and also driving around to explore off the beaten track.Beautiful beach in Almerida with fabulous fish tavernas.Best moments by far watching the sunset with only the sounds of the goat bells for company and the snow capped{just} mountains in the distance. thank you Christos and everyone in Gavalochori for two weeks we do not want to forget.Hope to return later this year.

Stunning, spacious villa with gorgeous views near seaside. Immaculate and in perfect order. We were cared for with true hospitality. Nearby taverna with excellent food. Close to beach with fine sand. We previously lived in Greece for 2 years and have travelled extensively through mainland and islands - and our stay here is a top favorite. Perfect for family - we brought our 4 children, ages ranging from infant to 15 years. Highly recommended.
