East Budleigh is an ancient village, well-established by the time of the Norman Conquest in 1066 All Saints is an exceptionally fine church. Sir Walter Raleigh's father was churchwarden here in 1561, and the Raleigh pew (1537) is the second on the north side of the nave. The birth place of Sir Walter Raleigh, now known as Hayes Barton, is in Hayes Lane about one mile outside the village. Nearby: Budleigh Salterton (I mile South) is remarkable for being the only town in the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is also a gateway town to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. My mother and I had a lovely few days staying in East Budleigh in the annexe to the Old Manor. What a lovely cottage! It had everything we needed (and more), it was comfortable and Pam and Mike made sure that the morning and evening chill was kept at bay with the heating. We received a wonderful welcome and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had a super time and I would recommend it to anyone.
Owner's Response: Debbie and Dorothy were lovely people to have staying in the annexe and wrote further pleasant comments in our visitor’s book. In fact almost all of the renters we have had from Holiday-Rentals have been interesting and have been a pleasure to have around. Most have made full use of our garden and this beautiful part of Devon.

A Welcome Break

We had a lovely week staying in the apartment, 28th June to 5th July, The apartment was very comfortable and had everything we needed and more! It was also a bonus having the lovely gardens to wander in at our leisure. We found the accommodation, most convenient for visiting the nearby coastal resorts and attractions.

The owners, Pam and Mike were very friendly and helpful and we would certainly recommend this as a great place to stay.

PERFECT BREAK!

We stayed at the cottage from 11 - 15 August 2008 and had the most fantastic time..... the Perfect Break!

Pam and Mike really are great 'hosts', hospitable, charming and very knowledgeable about the area. They were there if you needed them but otherwise unobtrusive.

Everything was provided for us in the cottage, from the linen to a corkscrew and even down to the salt and pepper!

The cottage was clean, quiet, comfortable and extremely well maintained. We were able to park the car off the road and store our bikes safely too. Beautiful gardens surround the house, which we were invited to enjoy while we were there.

This cottage is in an ideal location, close enough to all amenities, but far enough to appreciate some peace and quiet. Plenty of walking, cycling and sight-seeing available in the area. Great place for open-air activities.

I would definitely recommend this cottage to all my friends and family (not all at once ..... it only sleeps 2 ;-} ) and we hope to get back there one day to attempt the other off-road bike trails.

Can't say enough good things about it!
