Gavalochori holiday villa: Gavalochori

We stayed in villa Alkyoni for a week this past August (of 08) - the villa is really beautiful and luxurious - I think it is actually nicer than it looks in all the pictures. We were two families travelling together and there was plenty of room - the layout is excellent. The location is lovely - very secluded. Gavalohori is a quaint little town and you are near beaches and other towns that offer restaurants and shopping. The owner was very diligent about trying to remedy a few problems that we had (when we stayed the villa was really new) - we had a plumbing problem with one of the bathrooms and a problem with the air conditioning in one of the master bedrooms. He tried to have all things fixed very quickly and even left us two bottles of nice wine as a way of making up for the inconvenience. The caretaker/helper is very lovely - recommending restaurants and shopping areas and answering questions, giving directions, as well as cleaning. The pool is gorgeous - really huge and the area around the pool is so well layed out and beautifully decorated with flowering plants and comfortable and plentiful outfoor furniture There is ample and comfortable space for dining alfresco (which we did every mornig and several evenings). Beds are comfortable enough. Lighting is slightly dimmer than I would have preferred in the bathrooms and bedrooms. We didn't get any toilettries, no dish soap, no dishwasher soap, no salt or pepper - it seemed a little weird, but not that big a deal. There were however really nice cozy robes. Lots of tvs, lots of dishes. Very comfortable. A really fabulous place - you feel like you are on the set of "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" We would definitely like to return - it was certainly the highlight of our trip.
