Palalda is a medieval village nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees and linked to the popular spa town Amelie Les Bains. For walking and cycling enthusiasts there are many trails to explore and bikes can be hired locally. The popular market town of Ceret is 7km away with a bustling Saturday market where many local wines, food, clothes and artisan jewellery, pottery and much more can be purchased. Nearby there is a large swimming complex ideal for all ages plus a local riding stable just 10 minutes walk away. For fishing and swimming there are lakes (15 minutes drive) and to get to the beaches of Canet Plage or Argeles sur Mur takes 40 minutes. Throughout the region there are many festivals to enjoy both in France and nearby Spain (the border is 10km) and a trip to Barcelona via train takes 1 hour from Figueres, Spain (12km from the border).

Notes to the rental rates

  • Reservations of 2 weeks or more will be given a 10% discount.
    Spring, Low Season and Winter prices are exclusive of charges for electricity and for the consumption of gas heating.
    Prices include all linen and bath towels but not beach towels.
    For stays of 2 weeks or more, clean linen and towels will be provided at the end of each week. Cleaning services can also be provided by separate arrangement with the owner.
    A deposit of 20% is to be paid on receipt of written confirmation of your booking and the balance is payable 2 weeks prior to your arrival date or in full if sooner.
    A security deposit of 300 euros is required against any loss or damages, this can be paid on arrival.
    Payment can be made in sterling or euros.
  • For short stays the price quoted is for 2 people. For 3/4 people add 10 euros per night and for 5/6 people add 20 euros per night.

In the Village and around.

Palalda has a popular sports bar which serves food and drink and has panoramic views across the river Tech. There is also a bakery, mini-supermarket and post office, all 2 minutes walk from the accommodation. There are several picnic areas in and around the village, one was originally a site for washing clothes. Every Sunday there is a market in the square and this square is often used for festive occasions to which all are invited. The streets of Palalda are safe for children and animals due to its narrow walkways and inaccessibility for cars. There is a large car park close to the apartment, 30 seconds walk away. Walk down to the footbridge and over the river to access the large Leader supermarket (10 mins) where you will also find a Chemist, Newsagent, Cafe, Beauty Parlour and more.

Amelie Les Bains

Amelie Les Bains has a Casino and many restaurants and bars. If you want some relaxing therapy, the Thermes in Amelie offers a selection of treatments. The local tourist office has many coach excursions in and around the region with brochures and information on all sorts of activities. For adults and children over 5 there is a Forest Adventure Trail close to the local swimming complex, only for the brave hearted.

Lakes and Beach

In St-Jean-Pla-De-Corts (9km) there are two beautiful lakes, one for fishing and one for swimming, boating, water acrobatics and forest adventure trails. You can walk or cycle beside the river for miles here, on special marked trails. There is also a lakeside cafe. Approx. 20km towards Perpigan in Villeneuve-de-la-Raho are another two lakes, one is for fishing and boating and the other has a sandy beach, clear refreshing water (shallow at the edge), trees for shade, an aqua waterpark, pedal boats and two beach-side cafes. There are many beaches to choose from, all within 40 minutes drive. From Argeles sur Mur to Canet Plage there are beaches to suit all taste including naturists.
