Nestled in the middle of rolling Devon countryside and on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, East Underdown is the perfect place for a family holiday or a quiet romantic getaway. The three cottages were converted from 17c barns. Walkers enjoy a choice of trails within minutes of the cottages. For families, there is much to do within a short drive. While we enjoy the peacefulness of the countryside, we are three miles from the A30 and very accessible to the rest of the South West. All guests have unlimited access (8a-10p) to our indoor, heated pool with current machine and sauna (£1/hr). We have added free Wi-Fi. There is a fenced, green play space for children, and even big kids enjoy our games room with a snooker table, darts, table tennis, table football and golf practice equipment. The perfect place for an extended family holiday or for a large group. It has an upside down design with 4 double bedrooms, (3 on the ground floor) 3 bathrooms (all with tubs and showers), dining/living area which can accommodate 16 diners, gallery seating area, Freeview, DVD, VCR, fully equipped kitchen including rangemaster double oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, woodburning stove (wood provided). It was converted from an old threshing barn and cow byre and the living/dining area has 15 foot ceilings to the apex. This creates on one side the fourth double bedroom and the other a gallery which is popular with children. The gallery also has a futon which can be a ninth bed. We also will provide upon request a high chair and cot (no linen). Complimentary free range eggs are available on request. There is also free Wi-Fi access. We offer a selection of DVD's for rental at £1 per night. Baby-sitting is available. Eight acres of fields to roam.

Dartmoor National Park is one of the last wilderness areas of Britain -- moorland landscape, wild ponies, ancient settlements -- great walks. Also easy access to Exmoor, and either the rugged seascapes of North Devon and Cornwall or the milder Channel shores of South Devon. 3 miles from Chagford (old stannary town known for its shopping and nearby walks), 10 from Exeter, 8 from Okehampton. We are within 10 miles of three 18 hole golf courses including Bovey Castle. Only an hour from the Eden Project. Children love the Miniature Pony Centre at Moretonhampstead (5 miles) and the House of Marbles at Bovey Tracey (12 miles). Five minutes from the last castle built in England -- Castle Drogo. 13 miles from Exeter and Exeter University. On a typical day at East Underdown you could talk a short walk up the road to the ancient stones of Spinster's Rock, lunch at one of the many local pubs, relax with a swim and sauna before cuddling up by the wood burner (or hanging out on the private patio).
