Situated within the walls of the village our house offers visitors a relaxed, peaceful & historic holiday experience. During loving renovation, the house unveiled many historic secrets associated with the Cathars. With 15 authentic stone arches scattered throughout the property and various 12th century paintings you are sure to feel you have taken a step back in time! However, with all mod cons and a comfortable feel to the living accommodation in the self catering gite, it is history at its best! With arguably the most spectacular facade in the village, Neuf Rue de Cancans really is a gem nestled within the cobbled streets of a village voted 'One of Frances Prettiest'. One of the few houses within the village walls to have a garden - a little piece of paradise can be found out here too. With its beautiful lush lawn & raised secure pool with sun deck spending time in the garden will be high on your list of priorities! And with BBQ terraces too, al fresco dining really is a must!

Lagrasse is situated within 45 minutes drive of the historic cities of Carcassonne & Narbonne. The village has something for everyone - bars, restaurants, local artisan shops, boulangerie & once a month in summer, the local 'brocante'. Live bands play in the 8th century Abbey, classical concerts in the church & a world famous music festival during July, all lively & fun, a typically French atmosphere is guaranteed! With village facilities including tennis courts, football & boules pitches only 2 minutes walk away & sailing & windsurfing a 30 minute drive away, there is also something to occupy the more sporty!! Skiing is only 2 hours away too. For those wanting a truly relaxing French village experience there is the pretty beach on the Orbieu river which is only a stones throw away through the cobbled streets. Superb fishing is also found on this river & with the Canal de Midi close by, tranquil boat trips are a must. The local market in the village offers superb local product

A True insight into French Living

Having spent many holidays throughout France, we stayed in one of the appartments at Neuf Rue de Cancans last September. It proved to be the highlight of a three week European tour! We have always felt on the periphery of French life but staying with the English owner Guy who is fluent in French and fully integrated into village life gave us a true flavour of France and allowed us a glimpse of what could be. From the slow cooked lamb on the barbeque, to the neighbours bringing round fresh home-grown produce and yes bottles of wine the experience is one we will never forget and will return again and again.

lovely big apartment. Guy is an excellent host and very informative. If you want some good wine, ask guy where to get it from because the good stuff is better than good! Wish we could stay longer!

How wonderful your 'home' is! We enjoyed our stay very much. The surrounding area kept us occupied during most days but coming back to your beautiful space and friendly village was definatly the highlight of each day. Thank you again.

Lovely spacious apartment in a beautiful setting within a picturesque village ideal for families with young children. Lots to do and see and we had fun exploring the region. Weather was perfect and Guy was a great host. BBQ's galore and the children were impressed with the huge paddling pool and garden! Will definatly return in the Summer.
