The apartment is situated at the Western edge of the unspoilt fishing village of Santa Luzia and a short drive to the historical and beautiful town of Tavira. This prime location is peaceful and very close to one of the best beaches on the Eastern Algarve. From the apartment it is a short walk to the village centre with its wonderful seafood restaurants that line the waters edge. The first floor apartment is brand new and has a contemporary feel. The kitchen and lounge have floor to ceiling windows and shutters that run across the entire front of the apartment. These open directly on to a good sized private balcony, with uninterrupted views of the countryside and seawaters of the Ria Formosa, a nature reserve that is a haven for wildlife. In the evening you can watch the most glorious sunsets over the mountains. The apartment is only 8km from Junction 16 of the A22 motorway, 35km from Faro and within 10km of excellent golf courses.

Our Apartment is situated in a superb location, only 8km from Junction 16 of the A22 motorway and enjoys the beautiful tranquillity of the unspoilt Eastern Algarve in the small fishing village of Santa Luzia near Tavira. The beach Islands of the Ria Formosa are renowned for being peaceful, uncrowded, safe, unpolluted and extend for 12 km. Santa Luzia beach is 5 minutes by regular aqua taxi. Barril beach is 10 minutes walk and has a miniature train, a great adventure for children. There are beach restaurants, café bars and shower facilities. The renting of boats, windsurf boards etc are available. Within 4km Tavira offers a great range of shops and supermarkets (Pingo Doce, Lidle), bars/restaurants abound many specialising in seafood. The beautiful river Gilão runs through the centre of town and on those warm summer nights public entertainment can be found in the park by the river.

Local amenities: The water shoot park in Loule is only 35min away and is great fun, You can also Swim with the Dolphins at Zoomarine! We have a number of excellent markets nearby (a detailed list will be in the apartment) where you can pick up some real bargains. There is an interesting car-boot near the beach of Fuzeta where you will find some unusual items. Ayamonte, 20 min (the Spanish border) town has a similar market every Saturday. Tourist resort towns with entertainment, bars, restaurants and casinos only a 10 - 40 minute drive away (depending which town you would like to visit). Finally, for those of you who do not want to just stay on the beach and want to see more of the original Algarve then a circular drive through Moncarapacho, Estói, Olhão and Tavira is well worth doing, with the A22 link this makes a good half day visit.

Golf: Not only has the Algarve the best golfing climate in Europe it also has some of the best courses and facilities. To the West, Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo courses are within 30 min of the Apartment and Vilamoura a further 15 min further on. Benamor, Quinta de Cima and the Quinta de Ria are within 10 minutes and Castro Marim a further 15 minutes.

This property is immaculate in every respect and is ultra modern with all the latest facilities including Air Conditioning and must not be missed ! Its ideal for that relaxing break ! The views from the balcony are superb.There are some excellent restaurants in Santa Luzia the closest being 150 yards away is very good value with well presented good food. The best restaurant is a french one called Vicente which is for the discerning diner or the last night of your holiday. There is also a local bar opposite Vicente which is basic but sometimes have a good local bad playing and the drinks are reasonably priced. Tavira is close by and can be visted easily by car there are many restaurants there and also some nice shops. Travel down the coast to Cabanas, Manta Rota they are also very nice places with nice beaches. For the golfer there is a great choice of courses in the area 'Monte Rei' a Jack Nicklaus designed course is the best course in the Algarve and a must for the serious player. There is also Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima which are very good courses. All in all we fell in love with the area! You can travel to Faro easily by car and train from Tavira. You are only 30mins by car from Vila Real de San Antonio on the Spanish Border. The apartment is an excellent base to tour around the Eastern Algarve and we would highly recommend this property for a lovely holiday. Yes we will come back again ! Tom and Avril

A little gem

What a beautiful apartment and magical village Santa Luzia really is. The apartment is great for 2 people wanting to do their own thing. The kitchen has everything you would need if you were self catering. However, don't plan on cooking at night because you will miss out on the fabulous restaurants in the village. They will definately make your holiday in terms of quality and price. Smoked salmon starter for 1.5 euros at one restaurant and a huge bowl of the biggest mussels I have seen at Vincents for 3 euros. There are a couple of local shops as well if you want to buy the local bread, cheese, beer, wine etc - the essentials. The Isle de Tavaira is a pleasure to visit for a couple of euros either by water taxi or the small guage rail or even walk over the bridge. The beach is a mere 15km of sand with a few beach bars. In general the village caters maily for the Portugese but everyone is made welcome.

The Algarve is beautiful in the spring

An immaculate and beautiful modern apartment with everything you would need. The balcony is a lovely place to sit with views over the countryside and the sea. A stunning beach is within walking distance. The village is a real fishing village that hasn't been ruined by tourism. The people are friendly and helpful. You don't need a car, it is possible to get everywhere by public transport. Tavira is a short bus ride away. This is a well preserved eighteenth century town with lovely squares and gardens, a real jewel in the Algarve.

just returned from a lovely holiday in santa luzia.sallys apartment is great,bright,modern and very relaxing.it also has one big plus-what a view.we both love birdwatching and at times it was difficult to tear ourselves away from the superb balcony.viewed from here the estuary is alive with waders of all kinds including egrets,white storks,ringed,grey and kentish plover.to the front are unobstructed views of fields,olive trees,orchards and distant farms which allows spectacular sunsets. here we saw lots of familar birds plus hoopoe,shrikes,cattle egrets,montegues harrier,blue throat,spotless starling,waxbill,sardnian and fan-tailed warblers.in all 50+ species. one evening 31 spoonbills flew onto the barrier island easily seen from our seats on the balcony. a walk through the old village to the saltpans was rewarded with lots of waders including black winged stilts.collared pratincole and spectacular flamingoes.there is easy access to some of the best birding sites in portugal from santa luzia. the nearby beaches are superb,reached by fast aqua-taxi from their jetty close to the apartment.nearby tavira must be the nicest town on the algarve.here it is very different from the coast west of faro. quieter,laid back,very portugese with friendly locals.a wonderful area. give it a try.
